Arrow The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings - Coming To Xbox.

Updated on 3/19/2012

I played this before the first game and wasn't familiar with the Polish novels. Needless to say I was a little lost not knowing all the names/places being brought up in conversations, but I was surprised at the quality of the game. Awesome in every aspect. This is the Game Of The Year for me so far.

I went back and played the first Witcher. After finishing it, now I know what route the developer took for the sequel. They took a "Mass Effect 2 approach", meaning they streamlined just about every aspect of the previous game, yet made it a bit shorter in gameplay length.

Assassins Of Kings takes place one month after the first one ends. The end movie of #1 has your character
[Show spoiler]confronting a masked assassin who tries to kill King Foltest, then defeating and removing his shroud to reveal the assailant is a Witcher just like you,
which sets up the sequel perfectly.

The Witcher 2 Is Being Released April 17, 2012 For The Xbox 360

Quote:
The Witcher 2 was released internationally for the PC in mid-May. It has been received exceptionally well by gamers and media alike, and sold through 400,000 copies in its first week. An Xbox 360 adaptation was announced yesterday, and will be shown behind closed doors at the E3 trade show next week in media-only presentations.

CDProjekt RED Executive Producer John Mamais stated, “We’re very proud of The Witcher 2 and the highly positive reactions it has received from both our players and the media. Taking it to the Xbox 360 represents an exciting opportunity to introduce it to a new segment of the gaming audience. I’d like to stress that we are doing a full adaptation to the new platform, not just a straight port. Technology-wise, this means we are aiming to push its limits in order to get visual quality as close to high-end PCs as possible – and during E3, you’ll see how good the results we’ve already achieved are. Gameplay-wise, it means we are looking closely at all the feedback we have received about the PC release, and are addressing it during the adaptation process to be sure we provide a superb, completely polished gaming experience. Of course, we are not changing our vision. The Witcher 2 for Xbox 360 will have exactly same flavor, that of deep, mature, non-linear role-playing.”

The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 received enthusiastically at E3

CD Projekt RED marked its fifth year at the Electronic Entertainment Expo with a live demonstration of the studio's upcoming Xbox 360 adaptation of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings. The segment shown was from a pre-alpha build, and received highly positive feedback from media, gathering praise and earning awards among major gaming sites all around the world.

The Witcher 2 garnered a variety of awards and nominations, including:

Most Valuable Game of E3 – Awarded by The Official Xbox Magazine to the best games of E3

Best of E3 – Awarded by Ripten.com

Best of E3 Nominee – Awarded by multiplayer.it

A range of media compiled enthusiastic impressions of the Xbox 360 E3 demo:

Gamespot – “The Witcher 2 is undoubtedly one of the finest role-playing games in years-and certainly the most beautiful”

IGN– “The Witcher looks great on Xbox 360!”

The Escapist - “CD Projekt is aiming for the most mature and complex game in the 360's history.”

Gamerant - “Don’t expect a port of the game, but one built specifically for the Xbox 360.”
RPGFan - “There's not much to be said here - the demo was impressive”

Gamesareevil - “The Witcher 2 is not a game to miss.”

Neoseeker - “The demo was absolutely stunning, with impressive texturing and such fine details that you'd expect from a high-end PC.”

RPGamer - “This game is all about your unique experience in both story and gameplay.”

Gamingbits - “The game still looks gorgeous even in the early state”

Development Philosophy

CD Projekt RED is making absolutely no compromises for the console release. The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 is a full game adaptation for the new platform. It will immerse players in the same mature, deep gameplay experience, but perfectly suited to the Xbox 360. The same complex storyline, non-linearity, spectacular and tactical combat system, living interactive world and many other features will all be fully implemented on the Xbox 360.

Thanks to CD Projekt RED’s advanced, proprietary REDengine technology, The Witcher 2 on Xbox 360 will present some of the most cutting edge graphics ever seen on the console. In addition, the team is taking the time needed to prepare a proper adaptation. As a result, players can expect meaningful improvements and enhancements. Information about the changes, including the role of Oscar nominee Tomasz Baginski, will be revealed later this year.
