Default Spidey to be HUGE?

This is just speculation, but I'm guessing that with some of the MAJOR Blockbusters coming out on BD exclusively (like Die Hard, Spidey and more) this should be a very Blu Christmas (insert Elvis joke here)... Thank you very much!

It definitely will be and it will be interesting to see what the competition plans to do to survive the onslaught.

HD DVD will survive. A few releases are not going to kill them.

I wish Toshiba a very blu-Christmas
And when at Blockbuster-movie goes Blu I'll bay it.
I'm new in blu - but I already love it.

That depends. If Spidey sells huge, and other blockbusters from pre-Blu movie companies don't sell in the same numbers, well...money talks.

That and the news that Sony is going to start pushing the PS3 as a Blu-ray player could bring some interesting results.

I think the spidey bd will be hot. Also all the others like die hards, Independence day and the 3 pirates. Let's not forget the harry potter's. Even though they are being release with rival hd dvd, remember 300 was the same thing and what sold more. The BLU_RAY OF COURSE>

I'm excited for Spidey, but I think other titles are going to sell better. A lot of the hardcore comic fans werent happy with Spidey. I'm keeping an eye on the non-theater goers, the group that waits and blind buys to watch at home.

Spidey will sell huge
Die Hard Collection will sell great (Think about the demographics of early adopters)
Harry Potter will sell good
Pirates

Blu-ray really is stacked, a my wallet knows all too well (34 pre-orders)

Well this transfer could never be released on HD-DVD no matter what as the max bit rate exceeds 37Mb/s (AVC) for the video stream and that's just Spiderman 1. Move over Casino Royale and Pirates, the top shelf has just got a little bit wider.

Oh I am well aware that a few releases won't kill them, but we have a lot more exclusive blockbusters coming to Blu then they have going to them. Also, as we all know even the titles that come to both HD formats always seem to sell better on Blu. Speaking of that I am curious to see how Troy and Smallville are doing on both Blu and Hd-dvd.

Yeah right. Spidey will be the #1 seller of the year just like it was the #1 box office hit. People may not have loved it, but many of them will still buy it and those of us with kids will be forced to buy it. Remember the 7-12 year-olds don't give a crap what the critics or older geeks say; They just like seeing Spidey in action.

You also seem to be forgetting that Spidey 1 & 2 are coming as well. POTC 1 & 2 seemed to do pretty well considering they weren't new.

Why wouldn't the Nielsen data give us a great indication?

They are available seperately, and most people like them both.

Remember, it is not just Spidy 3 on blu-ray, but a chance to own all three on blu-ray for the first time. This triples the number of discs sold on this movie for blu-ray. Smart move for the golden quarter, I must say.

Are they to be announced at a later date to be sold separately?

Eventually

From the way PG is talking, they wanted a box set but didn't have the time to do them up the way they wanted

I wouldn't be shocked if they keep them in the box until they do SEs of the first 2.

It's no freakin' secret that HD DVD is going to get mashed up badly by Blu-ray this holiday season.
BADLY!!

I see multiple weeks of 80:20 or higher.
