Default Splinter Cell HD Trilogy

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy Coming to PS3 With 3D

Quote:
The PS3 Game

When we started this project, one of our main goals was to provide the players with the best possible content. Hence we decided to port the game from the PC version which had more content and detail compared to the PS2 version.

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Trilogy on PS3 will include:
  • Graphics in HD resolution
  • 3D Stereoscopic support for 3D TVs
  • Some exciting and challenging Trophies
Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane and talk briefly about the gameplay and original titles.

...
(click to go native res)

More promising than the last few screenshots!

Best freakin news of the DAY!!!

Porting the PC version is just the level of awesomeness this needed.

It would be cool, but I dont expect it is if they updated the control scheme in the first game to be more like Pandora Tommorrow/Chaos Theory.

The only downside to this is that the multiplayer online portion will not be available.

These looks like an actual port similar to (probably even better than) God of War 1/2 as opposed to Medal of Honor Frontline that looked like it was merely being emulated on the PS3.

Unfortunately it wont include multiplayer and I am still totally bummed that it wont include the xbox/ps2 version of Double Agent.

Before you respond and say that Double Agent was released on 360 and PS3, I will make you aware that the xbox/ps2 version of DA was a COMPLETELY different game from the 360/PS3 version.

See my posts on the first two pages of this thread for more info.

You can probably file this under the "who cares" category but the game has officially gotten a rating in the UK.

I am HOPING this means that an official release date is coming soon.

Amazon still has it listed for June 21st.

I got an email from amazon saying the new release date is July 29th.

Freakin Ubisoft and their damn delays.

How freakin hard is it to do a damn port?

2nd time this has been delayed for crying out loud!!!!!!!!!!!!

Between Alice:Madness Returns, Duke Nukem Forever (will get depending on reviews), FEAR 3 (review pending) and of course Infamous 2 I can't say Im TOO surprised.

If the delay results in the (VERY) unlikely inclusion of xbox Double Agent and multiplayer I guess it will be an acceptable delay.

DAMN IT!!!!

With how poorly done the Prince of Persia trilogy was, they should take more time.

What was so bad about them?

They seemed to be everything Ubisoft claimed they would be. Same game with HD resolution. Nothing more.

There is serious slowdown in the games. The sound is bad, music is low or high depending if you are in menu or game. The sound effects are off they are either ahead of or behind the action. The games played a lot smoother on ps2 for me.

Everything I have seen on the SPlinter Cell HD suggests they will be fabulous.

As long as you dont expect the games to be completely remade I think a lot of people will be pleased.

Many were mad about the lack mulitplayer though.

So far only PoP has had any issues from what I have seen of the HD remakes of games. God of War 1 and 2 were perfect. With the way games are released with bugs now a days, I say give them the time to fine tune the product.

Agreed. God of War 1 and 2 are examples of the right way to do a port.

Nevertheless, I am confident that this SC HD set will meet or even exceed the quality since they are using the PC version of the games for the assets.

To this day Chaos Theory still looks pretty good on PC.

Amazon now says Splinter Cell: Classic Trilogy is coming out August 2nd, 2011

EDIT: Joystiq checked in with Ubisoft and received the following word: "We currently do not have a ship date for it. It will be sometime this summer." Source: Gameinformer

They need to get on the ball with this.

I do hope that there is a very good reason for the delay.

IMO, July would be a great month to release it since there are no major games coming out that month and considering how crowded June was in major releases.

Not to mention, all of the bluray boxsets coming too.

Would love for the delay to be caused by them adding Conviction but that's never going to happen
