I was too old for the toys and TV show when Transformers came out, so all I know about them is from the movies. However, having watched all three films I'm still left with questions regarding the giant robots...
1. They mentioned they were a race, but how could they be when they aren't organic? I mean, they're robots, after all! I assume they are made of aluminum and steel, which have to be processed from minerals. (Weren't there dying baby Decepticons in part two? You know, in that scene where we see the home planet of the robots, and in a cocoon-like structure are what look like baby robots. Go figure.) 2. Which leads to the second question, If they are not a race then who built these giant war-like robots? 3. Why are all the robots "male"? They all have male voices and physiques. (Of course, being robots they should be sexless. Just ask Robby the Robot about that.) Why are there no female robots? (Well, except for that one robot disguised as a real human woman in part 2. But was she a female robot, or only made to look like a female to trick Sam?) Maybe on their home planet there are vacuum cleaners and washing machines that transform into the housewives of Optimus Prime and others? And when they arrive home the housewives gripe that they cook and clean all day and this is the thanks they get? (Sorry for the overt sexism, folks.) If they truly are a "race" as stated in the movie, then how do they reproduce? (I'm getting kind of ill just thinking about that last one.) |
