Blue Dragon is already out for the 360 and is a multi-disc game. It has been out for a while in Japan and released within the last month in the US.

It is true that this game could have been done on one BD-50, but it is an RPG and swapping disc should not be too bad because the players should get several hours of play in before having to swap the disc. The same can probably be said about Lost Odyssey since it is a RPG also.

I will still take this as a win for the PS3 chosing Blu as a next gen format for gaming. I am glad I don't have to do any swaps. At least not yet. Bring on the 100gig games. lol

You have to remember, the 360 has a special protection scheme, so it limits EVERY game to 6.5 gigs in space. So in actuality, at max, Blue Dragon is 19.5 gigs, and lost oddysey is at max, 26 gigs, but with overlapping textures, music and info on the discs, it would easily fit on a single BD25.

I hope the idiot in charge of mistwalker finally wakes up and realizes he wont make crap on the 360 and changes his tune regarding his anti-sony venom. He wants to make some serious cash, he needs both RPG's on the PS3.

I heard Blue Dragon was not that great. LO's battle system looked interesting. I can wait until FFXIII and Versus. Heck, I still need to finish FFXII, I keep stopping for some reason.

I think it's because someone from M$ has a big share hold on the show. Might explain the dissing of the PS3, but gimme a break. The 360 came out what a year and a half BEFORE the PS3? The point they make about having to switch discs on the PS1 is valid though, remember FFVII? But considering this is the next gen in gaming I think it's rediculous to have to swap discs.

I'd imagine since MS is bankrolling his projects, he's not going anywhere anytime soon.

I don't particularly care whether I have to swap discs or not, but what would bother me (if I had the X360, which I do not, but hypothetically speaking ) is what might have been potentially removed from the game because of space issues.

That's why I like Blu-ray (for both games and movies). I know that I am not shortchanged because of technical inferiority, and that gives me a peace of mind.

enjoy

P.S. Warner....

G4TV is so far up M$'s ass it ain't even funny. I got so sick of all of the M$ lovin' and PS3 bashin' that I cancelled that channel.

Kinda miss Olivia on AOTS though.

Looks like Lost Oddysey's problems stretch beyond DVD swapping:

Quote:
The wait turned out to be about a year, but we now have Lost Odyssey in its final form. The game arrived at Japanese retail on Thursday, with its four disks requiring a case the size of a VHS tape.

It seems that one year of extra development above last year's demo may not have been enough. The final game opens up exactly as the demo does, with Kaim in the middle of a fierce battle. One year later, and this sequence is still impressive-enough to sell someone on a 360. But you'll still have to stop playing right after the meteor strike and before you start taking full control of Kaim, because like the demo, the final game engine starts falling apart right there.

In the six hours that I've played so far, Lost Odyssey has been a technical mess, with framerate problems in just about every cinema and on most maps, an animation system that looks like it was ported straight from a PS2 engine, and frequent, inconsistent load times accompanied by visual stuttering as new data loads in.

Although it came from a different developer and used a different engine (Lost Odyssey uses the Unreal Engine 3), Blue Dragon had many of these problems when it made it out to Japan just in time for Christmas last year. I presume Mistwalker and developer Feel Plus were pressured into a release before all the kinks could be worked out.
IGN: Lost Odyssey Hands-On

It's not hard to imagine why they didn't have this playable at TGS.

Sure, if this was released on the PS3, you could sit yourself down for 40 hours straight and play the game without having to use any muscles, but then you'd have a whole mess of other problems
lol that is funny... by the way that game looks retarded

Problem is that M$ is a leading stockholder in MistWalker. They're running it at a loss, much like their entire games division.

I think Mistwalkers can and should be despised : they went in for the money, Blue dragon was crap (I should say s#it as lots of mobs are poo-snaks, pi$$-cat ...), and Lost Odissey brings absolutely new for story and gameplay and 1/3 are cinematics ...

Well I'd think they'd remember the waste that went into multiple discs. Except for install types, you waste space. And eventually, you reach a point where the 'minimum data that must be on every disk' starts to severely limit how much space you have to work with, hence a size jump.

I mean, the fun idea of swapping 127+ oversized GCN cartridges for FF7 was only slightly amusing .

So I just got a free Omen Blu-ray movie.

I watch the making of it, or behind the scene, or whatever that was.

They say, "Did you know 306, is 360, and 360 is equal to 666."

The number of the beast, so therefore, 360 is BAD.

I GET IT! That explains the red ring of death, M$ extending this dumb format war.
They try to make both format fail so they can shove our mouth with their download service.

Yes, makes sense, the guy on the interview says.

666 is 360!!

Sorry, but overall, I didn't like the movie, wasn't much into it to begin with. Just wanna toss this whole 360 number code they were talking about.

I wouldn't recommend the movie.
