I got my Smallville Blu-ray two days ago and ive watched it all the way through. Now I have noticed that Warner Bros. Blu-ray movies tend to look worse than any of my Lionsgate, Beuna Vista, Sony, Paramount, and Fox Blu-rays. However, Smallville was particularly bad. While still an improvement over the the shows HD broadcast, it felt more like an upconverted DVD than a Blu-ray. The biggest problem was little pieces of grain that seemed to be everywhere in ever scene, sometimes they were very noticable and sometimes i had to strain my eyes to see them, but they were there. Whenever i get a new Blu-ray i pay attention to the quality more than i normally would, usually this has postitve results when I find that i got a pristine new disc. But with Smallville...... High-DefDigest.com gave this 4 stars out of 5. http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/959/smallvilles6.html Did i get a bad copy or are others noticing this to?

I dont know if its film grain or if it is the transfers fault but it does not look as clear as any of my other blurays. Hell it almost has as much grain as 300 did (but i understand 300's film grain was intentional).
Simply put, when i watched this shows first season on my 13" tube TV over an analog signal, it might have actually looked better back then. |

I've never seen the show, but maybe the director's a film freak? Or perhaps a grain freak? I don't know, I was just brainstormin here...

Warner also only encodes in VC-1, although I'm not sure if that is the case. I've watched a few Warner titles myself and have noticed grain on these titles more than any of my other BD's. Before anyone says anything I know that certain movies(300, Sleepy Hollow) are meant to have the grain.
