Whether they're theme songs, songs featured prominently, musical numbers, or just a song that vaguely reminds you of a movie, what songs make you think of what movies? And why?
I could probably come up with oodles, but some examples are... David Bowie's "Cat People" reminds me of "Inglourious Basterds" (song was used in the scene where the woman's preparing for vengeance) Dick Dale's "Misirlou" reminds me of "Pulp Fiction" (obviously) Massive Attack's "Protection" (featuring Tracey Thorn) reminds me a bit of "Hackers" (song was used in one scene) Whenever I hear the song "Somebody to Love," I'll think of Jim Carrey singing it in "The Cable Guy." What about you? ![]() |

Tarantino always features music prominently in his soundtracks (e.g., Bobby Womack's "Across 110th St." in Jackie Brown and "Stuck in the Middle With You" by Steelers Wheel in Reservoir Dogs). Then you've got Simon and Garfunkel and The Graduate... Sound of Silence, Mrs. Robinson, The Only Living Boy in New York (I think), and Scarborough Fair. There are four songs... And "Ooh La La" by the Faces --> Rushmore, of course. "I Am Waiting" by the Stones, too. Assuming you're talking about Jefferson Airplane and not Queen or somebody else, that song always reminds me of one of the best scenes in Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas. Now that I think about it, there are actually some movies that have multiple songs that make me think of the movie. Top Gun, The Karate Kid, Rocky IV, Beverly Hills Cop, Footloose, Saturday Night Fever, Wayne's World... |

"Over the Rainbow":-The Abominable Dr Phibes
"Shaft":-can't remember the movie to save my life or the remake but whenever I here it, think of the movie in a very hazy way. Last edited by happyman; 08-19-2011 at 01:16 AM. |

"Yellow", Coldplay- The Dark Knight
"Everybody's Changing", Keane- Cloverfield I thought you meant more than obvious soundtrack songs. Circumstances surrounding the times I remember seeing these movies are the reason. Not that they were actually featured on the soundtracks. Weird things like that. Like "Slip to the Void" by Alter Bridge reminds me of Mass Effect 2. Or "When They Come for Me" by Linkin Park reminds me of LBP. |
