Very long article, and interesting points. Here is an 'abstract' I tried to pull out (the article has much more to tell): The article started out about DS competing against PSP, with a new facelift (DS lite) it is going to do better. The author states DS and PSP are doing more or less equally around the world, (Nintendo claims 16millions in E3 and Sony claims 17millions) but some people posted comments arguing Nintendo has the upperhand because the figures they stated were actual sales, and Sony's figures were number of PSP shipped. There are also figures showing DS is creaming PSP in Japan. But by no means a winner has emerged in the market yet anyway, though he does predict the global market is going to follow in the same fashion as in Japan due to 'market maturity'(?). There were also some 'ranting' about how boring games industry has become with the clones of succesful games and sequels but nothing new is coming out, and how this may help Nintendo succeed in the next-gen. Anyway, one of the main points he tries to get at is that Nintendo may be able to come back and take a chunk of console market share by its innovation in Wii, as proven by its success in the handheld market. I can see the author is quite supportive to Nintendo, but the way he look at the picture isn't really biased in my opinion and the points made are quite valid. So I enjoyed the read quite a lot. So the big question still remains: Will Nintendo's innovation put them back into the competition of next-gen console war? |

I wish I could own so many consoles as well. I've only managed to snatch a thick PS2 from my cousin this year (2006!). Though I have SNES and PS I've never owned a lot of titles.
I guess I am not into games that much after all. Edit: and Yes to the question is my answer as well, I am really drooling over this hardware, especially if it would turn out very stylish looking. As for PS3, it is too expensive for me, I will just wait and see if I can snatch any off my cousin again. (that might well be in the year 2016 haha.) Last edited by yvzpa; 06-16-2006 at 06:17 AM. |
