I guess I'm just baffled that there are now 2 identical sections of information on this website concerning a movie in which a man takes a talking gorilla to eat at T.G.I. Fridays. It definitely warrants as much discussion as possible (heck..I was hoping for a Criterion release for this cinematic masterpiece) ![]() ![]() |

I will see it at one point, won't buy it but I will watch it once it's on The Movie Network. Compared with a lot of other people, I don't have much of a problem with Kevin James. I had a good time watching Mall Cop, I just took it for what it was, a parody of Die Hart

A good time at the movies. Adam Sandler's best role IMHO. I don't like him in movies, but his voice acting was great here. Lots of great voice acting here.
After watching the entire series, The King of Queens, which really turned me around on Kevin James, whom I had always thought of as a hack, like Sander, I had to get some of his flicks. This one was lots of fun, and it was sweet too. Just a good time, and sometimes that's all one needs. Film: 4/5 PQ: 4,25/5 (The first night scene at the zoo with all the guests looks managed in terms of DNR, but other than that it's a beautiful film. The night scenes look very cool blue, and the zoo scenes during the day look very warm and sun-bathed. Detail is very good, as is contrast.) AQ: 4/5 |

Watched it a second time today:
I had to get some Kevin James movies after watching King of Queens, as I really dug him in that. I used to think he was terrible like Adam Sandlers, but he is a really skilled comedian. This movie is terribly underrated IMHO. It's great for animal lovers, as it's sincere, and Kevin James comes across as absolutely genuinely caring. The cast is excellent, and even Adam Sandlers as the monkey is terrific, as are Nick Nolte and Sylvester Stallone. It's a very funny film, with great physical comedy as well. The love story is wonderful too. I love all the embarrassing moments, and the talking animals. Excellent all around. Film 4+/5 or 8/10 PQ: This looks amazing, and is pretty much perfect. Very sharp and detailed picture. Colours are beautifully rendered, and contrast is perfectly dialled in. There is one scene which features a wee bit of grain/noise, but nothing distracting. It looks to have been digitally shot, as it's super clean, yet naturally so. Compression artifacts are a complete non-issue. Awesome! 4.5/5 AQ: It's terrific track as well, although not as stunning as the video side, since the content doesn't require crazy surround or LFE moments, but it does everything splendidly. It's powerful and dynamic, and everything line is perfectly intelligible. Fantastic. 4.5/5 There are quite a few extras on here as well, some of which are pretty interesting, others not so much, but it's good to have and worth a look. 3.5/5 This is a great film, and I think the 5.1 rating shows how sad and cynical the world we live in is. |
