Norway Conan The Barbarian 3D Blu-ray (2011) [Region Locked / Free]

Leonidas_King posts: "It will come in two versions, a Combo Pack porting the Blu-ray 3D + Blu-ray + DVD + Digital Copy and the generic edition porting just a Blu-ray + Digital Copy of the film. No mention of Special Features or Cover art as of yet."

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...mber-22nd.html

Apparently he found this on walmarts (internal) pre-order system or some such.

Just watched this tonight- shaky cam stuff made all the action scenes a little tough to follow in 3D (which is not what you want from an action movie), but some of it still worked pretty well. I didn't think I would have been able to see it much better in 2D, but my eyes are pretty adjusted to 3D in general (never get eye-strain anymore, etc), so I'm sure others might have thought it was horrible in 3D if they were hoping to think it was horrible in 3D.
At other points the conversion worked well- but some of those are the more rendered scenes.
And also big screen 3D nudity. Alot of it fairly casual, but I thought Rachel Nichols looked wonderful naked in 3D even if that scene isn't long.
I'm certainly puerile for saying so, but the otherwise lack of known eye candy in 3D to date probably puts this on my shopping list.
I thought Momoa did a wonderful job. My wife thought he brought a certain... joy to the fight scenes that she thought worked well for someone in the career of fighting as he is depicted in the film.

Again, this rarely rises above cardboard cut out conversion, but I felt like it definitely did a couple times for sure. Nothing was so dark, and the parts that were extremely blurry weren't long enough that the 3D was ever a detractor for me.
I am solidly on the 3D side of the fence though, and even if it's only as much depth as conversion shows, I prefer 3D to 2D unless its a detractor. If I choose to watch this again (and I had enough fun with it, I could see myself doing so), I would choose the 3DBD version of it.

For the record I have been told that Rachel Nicols used a body double for one particular scene. But it was a nice looking body double.
And Nichols still looks great in a cleavagy dress at the end.

And Stryffe, I'm sorry it is faring so poorly also.

Other than Jason Momoa (perfect as conan) and the topless slave girls at the beginning, this film did nothing for me. Pass for me.

Hope they do get a chance to make a second one with Momoa though, with a better director and script.

I agree. Saw it last Sunday and thought "Meh." Best 3-D effect was the sparks during the credits. I'll pass as well.

I wonder if this will be the same case of active improving passive such as with COTT. Many passive watchers on theaters gave COTT bad 3d reviews but when it came out on 3dbd, it was awesome.

Pretty sure COTT was also panned on 3d bluray.

Thumbs down Conan the Barbarian review

"A quest that begins as a personal vendetta for the fierce Cimmerian warrior soon turns into an epic battle against hulking rivals, horrific monsters, and impossible odds, as Conan realizes he is the only hope of saving the great nations of Hyboria from an encroaching reign of supernatural evil."

Upconverted from 2D production, this 3D 1080p transfer is not that great. Sure colors were bright and amazing and the 7.1 surround on this is DAMN good and will leave you blown away. But this is 3D we are talking about here.. Or is it? Many scenes in this movie will leave you wondering, did they even convert this to 3D?!
Sure.. Some scenes had depth such as showing battlefields, cities the ocean and this one cool looking cave. But it wasn't so much to say, WOW that was good... Other scenes are just 2D.. I even took off my 3D glasses and the image was a perfect 2D image with NO blur!
To sum this up, I took off the 3D glasses and enjoyed this one in 2D.. Besides it looked 2D anyways

The movie is great, the 3D is crap. Worth buying? Hmm... I say a rental

3D score- 3-10 sucked

Thank you for the legible review. The one on this site rates video quality 4.5/5. This is the same score as Lion King, but if you read both reviews this one cops a floggin' and King is nothing but praise...

But this site rates the video a 4.5/5 based on the clarity and quality of the transfer. It is not basing the 4.5 on 3D quality.
