Ah, awesome! Finally they're releasing something that deserves to have an HD release.

I will resist watching the DVD as well. Look forward to see the BD soon. This is an opportunity for Eros to come up with a fantastic BD.

Default Eros is so slow

Guys you guys are dreaming if you think eros will release this by end of the months. Kartik calling kartik, anjana anjana, tees mar khan, the list goes on, eros is big on promises but will not deliver, time and time again, then itl be october, november . I hate to be negative but they have broken our hearts before so many times. Rumours were for tees mar khan, no fruition, they don't like to release blu rays. Break ki bad has been on my retailers web site as coming soon for six months, also eros release. I don't even bother with eros promises.

Have to agree with you that Eros has slowed down to a standstill situation on BD release and we have mostly given up hope. I saw ZNMD in cinema and liked the cinematography and music and it was a decent movie - basically it has most of the elements that deserve a stunning transfer.

Today, I was telling a Spanish friend of mine in Ankara Turkey about the movie and how beautifully it was shot in Spain. I recommended him to see it on Blu.

Friends Anjana Anjani..Tees Maar Khan...were box office duds...so Eros must hv felt apprehensive abt goin for their blu-rays in the final run...whereas Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara is a blockbuster...remember they came out with Housefull blu-ray which was just abt an average hit..ZNMD blu-ray shall definitely b out but by month end well I doubt that...the film is slated to be shown on Star Plus HD and Star Gold HD channels in India as per their Bombay Times newpaper ads so also Bodyguard which is gonna be on Star Plus HD and Star Gold HD in October

Default dum maro dum

Everyone swore dum maro dum was going to be out two months ago, i was about to paypay my retailer everyone was so confident and it fizzled out, no sign of it, dont count chickens for ZNMD, it will not see light till 2012, eros is a very slow company for blu ray releases, and Kartik calling Kartik was a dud , and they still released it , albeit 6 months later than its promised release. Eros is not really keen on blu ray releases, like T series or Reliance, they take it seriouslly, to each onto their own.

Dum Maaro Dum also was not super successful. Bollywood Hungama gave it an "average to below average" verdict. Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, on the other hand, was given a "super hit" verdict, along with Singham and Delhi Belly.

watched this movie on DVD and liked the movie a lot... this is the first movie after 3 idiots that i genuinely liked .... and technically also cinematography was good... music was average(considering all the songs) although senorita and khwaabon ke parindey were very good tracks but i feel S.E.L albums from last 1-2 years have been disappointing me.... sound mixing was good ... so expecting atleast housefull grade blu ray from eros...

Woohoo - I hope this is true! My dad is in India right now and I would love for him to pick it up for me before he returns at the end of the month.

I agree that past experience with EROS has been poor. They did promise Veer, KCK, and Housefull and did delay again and again and again before they finally released. I reallly hope that doesn't happen with this one.

Anjaana Anjaani - I dont think that many people care. Did they actually officially announce this?

Dum Maaro Dum - Again, was there an official announcement?

Tees Maar Khan - This is distirbuted by UTV not EROS.

Golmaal 3 - They did announce and keep to their word, but the BD came alot later than the DVD.

No Entry - Apparently, this was released this week without any warning.

I dont know how will be the audio and video quality of this since it is being released by EROS which used to be called ZEROS sometime back. The only BLU-RAY i bought and think is good is Wanted, and Billu Barber. Off the subject Just now watched Bhool Bhulaiya by T-SERIES on 52" screen what a fantastic job they have done every detail can be seen with best picture and audio quality. DOUBLE GOOD LUCK TO Eros, ZNMD movie scenes are awesome if job done well it can be one of the best blu-ray since it was shot at amazing locations.

Buddha hoga mera blu ray player before eros releases this lol. Its surprising eros is probably the company with the deepest pockets after Ambani's reliance.

That is why the Disney move to buy UTV is good , get some American good old US style management , planning vision in these companies.

A bunch of friends came to our place last night with two movies - ZNMD on DVD and Ready on BD. I was hoping to Midnight in Paris on my own but at the end it was fun with some old friends.

The ZNMD DVD quality is quite good and it held up very well on a large screen. Hoping to see a good BD release.

Although I resisted my best to watch Ready but had to give up at the end with 3 die-hard Salman fans up against me. At least I managed to excuse myself to fetch food and drinks

Although I did not watch Ready from start to end, I was quite impressed with the BD PQ . I saw it before briefly at one of my friend's place but got an opportunity to take a closer look yesterday. Will post my thoughts in the Ready thread just for the sake of PQ and not for the awful movie.

Told you so, Eros will never release anything other than at a snails pace if ever, Reliance and T series , and even Yash Raj are bang on with releases.

Watched it y'day on StarPlus HD. It looked very good on HD. If BD tries to be marginally better, it would be a fantastic transfer.

Could you please let me know if the colour, black and white levels looked ok?

Hey Ani... I personally dont think it is wise to do this...and i say this despite having recorded the HD znmd from star plus HD on my personal Tata sky HD+. As much i was pleasantly satisfied by the presentation, and found it awsome for a demo material of HD box, I am not at all hesitant to state that I do not trust the parameters for broadcast of HD channels as far as serious movie watching from the pov of BD enthusiasts is concerned. Pardon my limited knowledge but based on my extremely valuable learnings from many of your own BD reviews, i donno ....cause my mind asks me lot of questions for e.g;

1) How do i know the if the channel is not tweaking with the original source? given that it is an HD channel for saas bahu serials which are the holy grail for contrast boosting, excessive EE and not to mention- extreme color bleeding !!
2) HD channels are broadcasted in 1080i and not 1080p. Will that make any difference?
3) I am not sure about the speed of movie. The audio sounds a bit faster to me. it is something similar to speed difference between NTSC to PAL 4% speed up that i used to experience in DVDs. If there is anyway this really is happening, it will disturb the frame rate and in turn the PQ as well.
4) The compression parameters adopted by HD channels in India are still not up to the mark. This i learned from sanjay's detailed comments on hifivision forum. That should again make some difference to PQ.
5) Movie looks excessively glossy in look and not grainy which i guess shd be the right way.

Having said all that, to answer your question, i personally found the color and black levels pretty good and really hope it comes up well on BD. Cant say the same for white levels though - Majority of movie is in daylight and I seriously think there was some boost in contrast making details invisible in many scenes. This I say after watching the film 7 times in Cinemas- not for the value of the film but solely for experiencing its visuals repeatedly in 2k digital.

Btw, Disclaimer- I do not own even a decent Full HD display and have nothing to support my claims. These are just opinions and questions.

those looked just like ghajini's or singham's for that matter.... rich, vibrant, eye catchy... black and white levels good but the digital look....not the film look....bt i guess this is done during DI stage itself....

p.s maybe the HD broadcast wont look good in PJ because of obvious comreresion artifacts but it looked great on my Sony 46" LED-LCD TV...best broadcast i've seen....even better than some blu rays..!
