Well Disney removed Aladdin from it's Platinum/Diamond line. No idea why. So hopefully we will get that one. I'm sure given the success of Lion King in 3D we will see that converted. But 101 Dalmations and Peter Pan are in their Diamond lineup and there are still a few movies to get through before we get back to them in their spring and fall release lineup.

Heck yes! Pocahontas is one of my favorite Disney films; it's criminally underrated. While the DVD is actually one of the strongest looking in my collection and looks great upconverted, I'm still excited to see it in HD. As long as Disney ports over everything from the 10th Anniversary Edition (which, in itself, was ported over from the laserdisc), I'll have no problems with them not creating new supplemental material.
I hope this means The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is coming sooner rather than later as I believe that went out of print the same time Pocahontas did. If we use this year as a model for next year, 2012's schedule could look like this: February - Pocahontas March - Lady and the Tramp August - Robin Hood/The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh September - Aladdin October - Cinderella I can see them saving Aladdin for September so that they could perhaps do some 20th Anniversary merchandising promotion that can last through Christmas. Maybe we'll even get a 3-D theatrical release since I doubt they'll do anything like that for Cinderella (though a theatrical re-release of Cinderella, period, would be most appreciated, even if it's in sing-along form like Beauty and the Beast was last year). Summer is a slow period for home video, hence why I think they'll use that for either Robin Hood or Pooh, two films I don't see them putting much effort into, sadly. Of the two, I think a Pooh release is more likely since 2012 is the film's 35th Anniversary, and we all know how Disney loves its anniversaries. Pocahontas seems a lock for the beginning of 2012 what with this flyer ad and all. Last edited by The Mad Kiwi; 09-27-2011 at 11:14 PM. |

the 5.1 soundmix/music score on the DTS laserdisc is also simply gorgeous. recently rewatched some of the supplements on the DVD and the premier in New York City's Central Park is a very interesting featurette - I had forgotten that Disney had struck 70mm prints for the premier.

Mine, mine, mine - sorry, the joke was there.
![]() Actually, Pocahontas is one of my least favourite Disney movies (in canon), but I will still pick it up day one. What I really want is Aladdin. Hold the 3D conversion, please! ![]() |

Great news! I never picked up Pocahontas on DVD so I will pick this up on blu-ray day one. Haven't seen this film since I was around 15 or 16 years old. Been a long time, but I remember that I do like the film. Looking forward to it.

Sometimes Mexico gets Disney blu-rays before the U.S. Dumbo was released in February of 2010 in Mexico and it was released here in the U.S. just recently last week.
Monsters inc was released on July of 2009 in Mexico, and was released here in the U.S. in September of 2010. Just saying |

It was largely Disney's fault, they didn't market the re-release very well, and they skipped out on the planned IMAX re-release, but nonetheless, it was removed for low sales. I'm hoping that after eight years they have realized there is still a huge audience for it and it gets a worthy re-release, but who knows with Disney. The Hunchback of Notre Dame hasn't had a re-release in 10 years now and Hercules hasn't had a re-release in nearly 12 years, so it could be a while before we see Aladdin. Hope not. |
