Default WARNER-France planning 2008

Guys: I am simply reposting the info I sent to DVDTALK. Please be respectful of what has been announced as of this point. I am only translating/summing up the French text for you. Thank you! Dr. A

******************

Instead of posting this in the Blu-Ray section only I am going to run it on a separate thread since there is plenty of HDDVD info as well. Please note that this is a partial, preliminary, statement from WB-France and as the article suggests corrections are likely to occur.

The good news, I think we could all agree on that, is that some notable titles such as Natural Born Killers, The Goonies, HEAT are indeed coming.

I am providing a summation of the article for those who won't be able to benefit from the French text directly:

(First of all in France TAXI 4, Ne le dis a Personne, and The Crimson Rivers will offer English subtitles.)

Next Warner-France will be releasing The Matrix on Blu-Ray in addition to Alfonso Cuaron’s Little Princess which is currently announced as Blu-Ray exclusive. The article also mentions some inconsistencies in the preliminary announcements where such titles as Tim Burton’s Batman, HEAT, Speed Racer are currently rumored only as HDDVD. As Kevin Prin (RAMA’s editor) points out however this isn’t a clear indicator that these titles, total of 12, will be excusive to HDDVD citing the fact that initially Warner announced 300 also as a HDDVD-only release.

I will spare you the rest but here are some of the preliminary announced by Warner 60 titles:

The 12 titles currently without a Blu-Ray “partner”:

• Batman de Tim Burton
• L'Exorciste
• La Ligne verte
• Heat
• The Matrix and The Matrix Online Card Game
• Wu Ji
• Robin des bois, prince des voleurs
• Les Evadés
• Les Révoltés du Bounty (1935)
• Speed Racer (2008)
• Superman II
• A la maison blanche – Saison 7

Blu-Ray Only:

Cauron’s Little Pincess

The rest of the list-dual releases:

• 10,000 BC, de Roland Emmerich (2008)
• Appleseed Ex Machina
• L'Assassinat de Jesse James
• August Rush
• Aviator
• Batman Anime
• Bonnie & Clyde
• The Bucket List
• The Cincinnati Kid

• Le Choc des Titans
• Complete Matrix Trilogy (Blu Ray – currently only available on HD-DVD)

Ciao,
Pro-B

ps
I have to head to bed now but in the morning I will put all English titles in place where the French spellings aren't suggestive enough

Those are some good titles.

If you get a French movie I'm guessing it's either subtitled to french or dubbed right?

If that's the case, is the English also on there as well?

English is always there and as far as I know WB-France have not used forced French subs on the English-portion audio (this would apply to current HD titles).

ps
I am not sure I read your question properly...if you are talking about films where English is the original language used the above info stays. If you are talking about French-produced films and the availability of English subs then it depends on title. Chances are if you ask here I would be able to answer your question.

all dvd, blu-rays sold in FRANCE includes original track with mostly PCM english tracks and/or english subtitles
of course!! because even if I am french I can t stand French dubbling, awful! except maybe Homer simpson's voice, really fun

concerning french "made" movies, this might be different. I think there is no english track and possibly subtitles...
