Brilliant film. The Aussie Blu-ray is region free (though it would obviously be compatible with UK players regardless).

This looks very interesting and it's only £9.99 @ HMV http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProduct...do?&sku=438207 Alas **** all information as usual from this lazy arse distributor so we have no idea what we're getting. Nothing on the self-styled UK censor's site http://www.bbfc.co.uk/AFF284460/ either. Not a good receipe for selling stuff.

The Australian disc has these special features listed:

* Audio commentary with director Justin Kurzel
* Deleted scenes with optional audio commentary with director Justin Kurzel
* Interviews with Cast and Crew
* Music clip montage
* Original Casting footage
* Justin Kurzel's short film BELL
* Teaser
* Trailer

UK distributor: http://www.revolvergroup.com/uk/cinema/view/snowtown
http://www.snowtownthemovie.com/

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1680114/

Other stores:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005WVUM1E
http://www.play.com/DVD/Blu-ray/4-/2...n/Product.html

So we'll just have to wait and wait until we decide to invest in this title or not.

this was awesome!
This and Animal Kingdom are 2 of the best Aussy movies out in the last few years.

Anyone for ice cream?

Watched it tonight and thought it was pretty darn mesmerising. Where and how they got that cast (and technical talent) together I don't know. It was quite a gruelling experience and the only relief I had was:

[Show spoiler]
....the end credits where it said it was based on a true story.

I have no idea why that was a relief but it was.

Certainly a better film than Animal Kingdom due to the casting, direction and quite beautifully shot and scored production. I'm not taking anything away from Animal Kingdom though as it's a great film -that just tells you how good Snowtown is.

I've pre-ordered that HMV one and if it turns out to have no special features I'll cancel it and sell my house to buy the Australian version. I may have to sell my car too looking at the price but it'll be worth it.

I see the Oz DVD is region free:

click for larger

Safe to assume the Blu-ray is the same.

Here's hoping we get the same special features.

Can anyone that already received their copy let me know if this is region free? My only option for playing blus is a US PS3. Thanks

I received mine today, but I can't see any mention on the case. I don't have a multi region player to try it on unfortunately

It would be helpful if they did put this information on the back. I mean they found enough room to stick a QR code on

I've nothing against QR codes, but wish they would put them on the outer case as a sticker which can be removed and not printed on the sleeve. How many people are going to use the code anyway?

Default Haul of Hauls

From Kurzel, the one and only Snowtown, out of print, region-free, on my shelf, haul of hauls, sleepless nights to follow:

i got original disc but the 101 disc is bit too expensive for now.
i may wait to see reviews of the disc compared to original and then maybe get it on sale as I doubt it will stay £25 for very long

Guess it’ll all depend on how limited this LE proves to be.

Major props to any company that makes J-slips that are the perfect size for storing inside the case. This Snowtown release and Scream Factory's SteelBooks are the only ones that come to mind for doing this.

Also gotta hand it to 101 for making this slipbox a bit more sturdy and rigid than some of flimsy cardboard they've used in the past. It almost resembles a Second Sight LE, which is a great thing.

It's a shame this Bluray is OOP in Australia.

Madman said they'll likely release an anniversary edition at some point in the future too, prob a few years down the line. They just missed 2021
