Default Lord of the Rings...Scandinavian covers

The chaps at MovieZoo have put the three covers for Mr. Jackson's trilogy. No release date as of yet but consider this:

This was the site that broke the news about Once Upon a Time in Mexico and The Legend of Zorro coming in the second half of December (dates are now confirmed) before US dates were even announced as well as posting the info for the exclusive until then HDDVD Casablanca, now coming on Blu,...all announcements turned out to be true.

Cool

The way bluray is dominating, I wouldn't be surprised New Line announces these in 08.

LOL...sorry, double dip, triple dip, whatever...I have several versions on DVD for these movies, I might as well get them all on Blu as well. Still, I'm not holding my breath until it is announced by New Line officially.

I don't typically post rumors until they are actually unofficial "facts" (I follow European/Arthouse releases and post announcements at DVDTALK's international forum). Yet, during the last 45 days or so most important announcements have actually been hinted from across the Atlantic:

-about a month ago the Spanish Zona-site posted that Warner are set to release The Matrix Trilogy on Blu. About two weeks ago they posted a screen cap from a promo issued by WB where the Blu-Ray logo is seen. A few days later the French DVDRAMA editor posts an official, yet preliminary, list of over 60 WB planned for release in 2008 titles and indeed The Matrix Trilogy on Blu is a reality. It is on the list.

MovieZoo had the dates for The Legend of Zorro and Once Upon a Time in Mexico announced, second half of December, but there were no US dates hinted by Sony. Last week such became a reality.

With other words, there are way too many hints that came out lately which...became a reality.

Indeed. And I already have it in the initial post on the top...just a typo here.

Thank you for pointing it out.

Not to attack the person who mentioned the extended cuts, but I prefered the theatrical versions. There were no scenes of action, character development, or humor included in the extended versions. I felt that the theatrical ones were perfect and fully expounded the story. Just didn't think that the extra footage, and yes I've seen both versions more than once and compared them thoroughly, added anything at all to the story except for filler which wasn't at all necessary with movies that clocked in at roughly 3 hours apiece.
Just my opinion, I know that it won't be shared by all.
That being said, I want any version they're willing to grace us with and will pre order it on day 1.
Great catch pro-B. Thanks.

These are just placeholder images from what it looks like, similar to what amazon does with Star Wars and the like. It doesn't have a proper SKU, no release date, and looks like it was added to the system on July 26th. LOTR is coming to BD at some point, but it's still early.

Good thing that HD DVD can do seamless branching then... oh wait... ooops

Well at least they can put the extended cuts on one disc... oh wait... ooops, I did it again

I hope this turns out to be true sooner than 2009.

I agree, I'm going to hold out as well. Could you imagine the amount of information that will be on these BD discs.

I hear Peter Jackson wants to make a doc about the making of the 3 movies and put it on the extras of one of the releases.

You're pulling a Britney.

I'll definitely getting the theatrical AND the extended editions. I don't think the EE and theatrical can reside in the same disc however (at the very least not on HD-DVD) because so much was changed that I don't want the video bitrate and DTS HDMA (New Line seems to prefer DTS HDMA) to suffer.

Don't even get me started on the complete absence of Tom Bombadil in any version.
Dude, that really is a sore spot with me too. When I first heard about the extended versions I thought he would be in there FOR SURE. Damn, was I disappointed...

You are right. The two versions of FOTR actually have some things in a slightly different order. Two separate BD releases will be needed.
