I say they do away with the opening preview crap. Can't bypass it easily. Just take me to the menu and give me a "what's new" option. People like to know what is new. I know I would click to see.
If you REALLY want to make blu better and easier to use, go straight to the damn menu already. I paid for the movie, not for the commercials. What is the point when I am watching the same movie 5 years down the road? Ok, I can see a few seconds to set up the menu, but I don't need 10-15 minutes of previews to watch a movie. Since most people are skipping them, what is the point? Make it optional. Last edited by tron3; 10-03-2007 at 04:01 PM. |

You will probably never see the end of this because these movie studios want to cram these in your face cause believe it or not alot of people don't see trailers unless they are shown at the beginning of home movies.

I really like the previews - I actually worry about missing them which is why I've gotten into the habit of not putting a new disc in until I'm ready. With my old movies, I fire everything up while I get myself set (snack, adjust lights, etc...).
Previews as a menu option (as a standard) would be great for me! |

I usually dont watch them either but when I popped in FFRSS the Previews were Amazing Simpsons and Die Hard I was almost more excited than watching the movie. But that would be nice having the previews as an option of the Pop Menu which is sweet and PiP.

It's gotten to the point where I'm used to them now. But I appreciate the option to fast foward through them. I hate when the piracy screen comes up and when I try to skip that i get "operation not possible" on my screen. No need to try to scare me, I already bought the movie.

That is my whole point. 5 years from now, I either bought the movie(s)previewed, or have long since decided not to buy them. It's especially stupid to see a "coming soon" preview which has long been old news. Give me something timeless to watch.

the only solution i see that would fit this issue, is from now on each disc has to have the ability to download previews that you want on it. and also the ability to omit trailers as time goes on.

This was discussed in a thread WAY BACK THEN. I argued that a blu-ray player is a piece of home entertainment. Neither I nor anyone else wants the bother of "updating" possibly dozens of discs with pointless preview updates. Sony obviously ommited that ridicules function for a reason. If I have to maintain it beyond the occasional firmware update it is a burden. Last edited by tron3; 10-04-2007 at 01:02 PM. |

I like having the trailers on my BD's as they give my projector some time to warm up before the main feature. They also contribute to the movie theater feeling, and they (sometimes) are enjoyable to watch. I just wish that the studios would include mainly trailers for upcoming Blu-ray releases rather than stuff that is already available.
