Question Question about the Spider-man Trilogy on Blu-ray

Now 2 things we know are:
1)there is a seperate release of Spider-man 3 with all sorts of special features, and that exact release is identical to the copy of Spider-man 3 found in the Trilogy Box Set.
2)the copies of Spider-man 1 and Spider-man 2 found in the Trilogy Box Set will have almost no special features apart from the Spider-man 2.1 version of the second film. AND individual releases of Spider-man 1 and 2 with a ton of special features are planned.

Now my concern is that the first 2 movies might be poor or average transfers, while the 3rd film gets the royal treatment. My question is, do you guys expect the first 2 movies in the Box Set to be very good transfers (up to par with Spider-man 3) or do you guys expect less work to be applied to the first 2 movies in the Box Set? In the sense that Sony will make 2 average transfers in the Box Set and then have 2 fantastic transfers individually released? I really dont wanna wait for reviews and expect to be buying this the day it comes out, but i dont know if i should get the box set or just get spiderman 3 individually and wait for the others.

I didn't realize the Blu-ray Spidey 2 will be 2.1, that's pretty cool. But if the trilogy versions of 1 & 2 are bare bones that throws off my plans to buy the trilogy.

I'd imagine they wouldn't go to the expense of making two different transfers of 1 & 2 so I'd guess they will be the same transfer inside the trilogy and out.

It's already out in Australia, all reviews/opinions say they are superb

No I don't think that would happen, these are flagship titles for Sony, system sellers

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=18513

That forum talks about a review that's just come out of the trilogy boxset.

From what it looks like the transfer is excellent on all three movies.

I don't know about the extras on future releases on the first two.

I think that this being a flagship title Sony will be pulling out all the stops on the PQ and SQ...just my two cents....

Wait... aren't each of these discs going to be BD-DL's? With the first 2 having TrueHD tracks on them? ... So wouldn't an AVC transfer on a movie with no features and a TrueHD track on a 50gb disc be like heaven?

So wait, I thought the specs on all the discs were going to have the commentaries and what-not. Is this not true?

So has it been confirmed for sure that there will be deluxe versions of 1 & 2 in the future, or is it just assumed?

Paradiso, from the reviews I've read 1 & 2 don't have any additional content.

I have heard that the only way to get 1 and 2 on blu is to buy the trilogy.

Well that's true for the time being. I don't want to buy the trilogy and then have to rebuy the other two as special editions. Considering the bonus material isn't in HD anyway maybe I can just use my DVDs for that content. Or is it actually in HD, just not 16:9?

I've been wondering the same thing about 1 and 2. The fact that they are bare bones is what keeps me from buying the box set. As much as I love the movies and want them in HD, it's still hard to upgrade from my DVD versions if the extras won't be comparable. I do like my extras!

If you're that concerned about the supplements, can't you just keep around your DVD versions for those? It seems like a lot of supplements included on hi-def media are in SD anyway.

Absolutely, but:

1) I'm neurotic and I hate the idea of having both versions in my cabinet

and

2) I don't want to encourage the studios into thinking going bare bones is a good thing.

I do hope extras get mastered in HD more frequently in the coming years. It is one of the little things about going HD that bugs me.

Buy a double blu case

Place disc 1 in the 2nd hub
Place disc 2 in a paper sleeve over disc 1
enjoy

That sucks that Sony is not giving Spidey 1 and 2 the special edition treatment with all the special features. But it's not going to stop me from buying the box set.

As strange as it seems, i have never seen any of the spiderman films. I have been thinking about getting the New trilogy pack from the UK, but im not sure if its region free?, by the way, are these movies any good? are they worth a blind buy?

Also which version is the best to get, best PQ/AQ.....

US trilogy or New US sperate releases or New UK Trilogy?

How did you find this thread?!

Anyways, the UK trilogy is region free. I don't own the set, but as far as I know there aren't any variations in the transfer, so they should all look identical regardless of where you get them from.

However, the 2012 UK trilogy consists of only 3 discs, meaning the Special Features disk from Spidey 3 is not included.

The new individual NA releases have the same PQ as the older ones, but the AQ has been improved upon.

The best thing to do IMO is to buy the individual 2012 re-releases of Spidey 1 and 2 ($12.99 each at Best Buy, may be cheaper elsewhere) and try to find the original 2007 2-disc release of Spidey 3.

This way, you'll get all of the Spider-Man extras currently available on blu-ray. Shouldn't run you much more than around $35 anyways.
