Default My HDTV broadcast channels quit working! help!

Hello,

I installed Dish network HD this afternoon (well the guy did, i watched) and now my broadcast channels no longer come in (abc, cbs, etc.). The channels are just black. Does anyone have any idea as to what the problem is?

thanks

Are the ones your missing through dish network or using an over-the-air antenna?

over the air antenna, sorry. I should have clarified that. The channels came in fine using the antenna before today, but something happened during the installation that caused them not to work anymore.

Just a theory: The installer may have used the cable from your antennae to bring in the satelite feed so he wouldn't have to bring another cable into the house.

Try connecting the antenae cable directly to the TV to see if you get a signal that way. If you do then something is going on with your satelite box. I'm not sure what the fixes would be there, but their tech support should be able to clarify it.

He also may have simply neglected to have your sat receiver detect over the air signals. You can probably do this yourself in a few minutes.

Do you have a second TV hooked up to the DVR? If so, they are already using a di-plexer to accomodate that, so you will probably need to bring in another cable from your OTA antenna.

Are you getting the local channels? I thought I would save money and discountinue local HD channels in favor of using the free OTA channels, all good and well, until I canceled the sat locals, and the channel guide for my OTA channels went away

If you pay for sat locals, you also have the channel guide for OTA, if you don't pay for sat, you get nothing in the way of a channel guide

I'm sure thats what he did. Should have your antenna cable hooked up to the back of the Dish receiver as well as the wire that he SHOULD of ran himself.

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions. I haven't tried any of them yet as I am at work, but I will try them once I get home. I will give them a shot, and get back to you. Thanks again for the help.

peace,

raginranger
