Default Release Date For Samsung 1200 Firmware

Does anyone know the release date for the firmware update from Samsung. I currently cannot play FF4 / Silver Surfer due to the current version not being compatible. Please advice.

They have said a couple of weeks.

Which by my book is unacceptable.

You obviously don't understand engineering and testing.
They can most likely have the fix done in a day or 2 but it takes time to assure what ever change they made to resolve the issue doesn't effect other aspects/functionalities of the player. They don't just make sure the menu works and the fix is good. They need to do a thorough functionality and operating suite of tests to make sure nothing is broke.

Fear not fellow BDP1200 owners! My inside sources tell me that even as we speak Samsung has dispatched a trusted intern down to the local DVD shop to buy a copy of said movies to use for testing (to make sure we are not HD-DVD advocates planted here just to stir things up). As soon as they get their hands on the move all will be right in BR land.

Of course, if they are ordering it from Amazon.com we are in trouble, as they have not shipped yet. Maybe that explains the two week wait? I suggest someone on here overnight their offending copy to Samsung so those folks can get to work on solving this issue.

Gosh samsung really drags their feet on FW updates. I still remember waiting nearly 3 months for them to shut off the damn noise reduction on my first BD player (bdp-1000) Seems some things never change.

Glad I went Sony.
