Default PS3 Gaming Headset

Basically, i want a new PS3 headset and have a few options. Price isn't much of a factor (i will be buying off Amazon) so i would say no more than $212 (PX5 price). Things i need with this headset:
-it needs to be very comfy and not cause sweating
-sound good, i want the best sound i can get out of these.
-must be good with films, DVD's and Blu-ray
-Must have a mic (obvious)
-Wireless is a big selling point
-The ability to connect to two devices isnt a must but will help

I have a few options so far. The PX5 (obviously), The Tritton AX720 and the official Sony Playstation 7.1 headset. Give me your thoughts on each of these headsets and the pros/cons. Only want opinions from people who own them or have tried them out.
cheers guys (oh and i need an answer or at least some reply by Xmas day

I purchased the Sony Wireless headset a couple of weeks ago and am very happy with it. It's comfortable, easy to use, good battery life, can be recharged while being used, has crisp, clear sound and the surround sound is impressive. The only downside I can think of (for which I've heard they may fix via a patch) is that the surround sound only works for video games right now and not blu-ray, dvd or Netflix movies (you'll only get stereo sound). Still, for $100.00, I don't think you can do better.

What's the connection to the base unit.? Optical, coax..ect?
How's the prolonged use like, say 2hr +?
Is it made of plastic or metal, how sturdy is it. Has it ever cut out and dropped signal.

Get this topic moved to PS3 sub-forum and you'll get more replies...btw there's a topic that discusses the Sony headset there also.

I have the Offiicial headset and have no regrets...I don't have any experience with the others on your list.

You can watch movies off of an external HDD and listen to them via the headphones (and assumable movies saved on the PS3 HDD)... I do it all the time.

I would like to know that too. I have the PX5 but I mainly use it for my Xbox and PS3. My PC does not have an audio optical output but would like to get a new audio card and try my PX5 out on it.

Almost all PC games will be PCM via optical as they aren't encoded with Dolby Digital. And for that matter, because optical does not support PCM multi-channel audio you will only get PCM 2.0. The solution is to pick up a sound card that can convert to Dolby Digital Live and output via optical in order to get the PX5 base unit to operate in Dolby Headphone mode. However Dolby Digital Live has become increasingly rare with sound cards over the years (if it wasn't rare to begin with) and the only cards I know of that currently have it are the Diamond Extreme Sound DDL and the Asus Xonar.

Edit: Err, I guess scratch the Asus Xonar off the list - it looks like it only has coaxial and no optical out.

According to their site, it does support PC, you just need to have either a Optical Out, or buy the usb attachment that acts as a Optical Out port.
