USA THE LAST OF US - DLC3: Grounded Difficulty, Four Reclaimed Territories Maps, Trophies

thelastofus.com naughtydog.com

Abandoned cities reclaimed by nature. A population decimated by a modern plague. Survivors are killing each other for food, weapons; whatever they can get their hands on.

Joel, a brutal survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together if they hope to survive their journey across the US.

When a Cordyceps fungus attacks a host, the mycelium invades and eventually replaces the host tissue, while the elongated fruiting body (ascocarp) may be cylindrical, branched, or of complex shape. The ascocarp bears many small, flask-shaped perithecia contain the asci. These in turn contain the thread-like ascospores, which usually break into fragments and are presumably infective.

Some Cordyceps species are able to affect the behavior of their insect host: Cordyceps unilateralis causes ants to climb a plant and attach there before they die. This ensures the parasite's environment is at an optimal temperature and humidity and maximal distribution of the spores from the fruiting body that sprouts out of the dead insect is achieved. Marks have been found on fossilised leaves which suggest this ability to modify the host's behaviour evolved more than 48 million years ago.

THE LAST OF US SCORED BY OSCAR-WINNER GUSTAVO SANTAOLALLA [soundtrack sampler]
Naughty Dog has revealed that double Oscar-winner Gustavo Santaolalla is composing the music for upcoming PS3-exclusive The Last Of Us.

Does it look good? Yes.
Is it made by a great developer? yes.
Does it feature Ellen Page? Yes.

Do I want to play it? Not really. I just really don't have any interest in zombie/monster/survival games at all. And before anyone jumps on me with "give it a try first", I really, really cannot STAND any sort of survival/horror game with non-humans at all.

On a side note, kudos to ND for being able to pull off U3 and this game simultaneously. They were probably able to keep this under wraps because of all the big press Uncharted 3 was getting. They just snuck TLOU right under that game.

I understand everyone and their complaints about survival horror being overdone BUT who has actually done it right? When was the last time we played a horror survival game that we were actually into the story and scared and awesome graphics.

If any one can do it Naughty Dog can

Amnesia: The Dark Descent was damn good but I know what you mean. Dead Space 2 was also incredible.

OMG this looks awesome. SH game done right by Naughty Dog.

It looks like Uncharted meets I Am Legend ... starring Nathan Drake ... co-starring Ellen Page.

Can you imagine the heads that would explode if as you're playing the game, you stumble across the bodies of Drake, Sully and Elena? That the fungus that was teased in U3 (
[Show spoiler]and I'm thinking may have been that water that caused the problems
) basically spread throughout the world and caused the issues that take place in the new IP, and ended up taking out the beloved Drake/Sully/Elena?

I suppose they can continue making Uncharted games that take place in the time frame between U3 and the new game, but that would be one helluva gut punch to be playing and suddenly a cutscene commences and you have the characters making their way through some cavern or whatever and there are the bodies of Nathan Drake and pals.

I'm sure many would be adamantly against that, but if it doesn't erase chances of more Uncharted games, I think that'd be amazing.

It'd be amazing, but I'd immediately piledrive myself into steel to erase the memory.

There's been a ton of speculation in the video gaming community over the past week about a couple of videos that were released and also housed on the LastofUs.com website. We're very excited to confirm that The Last of Us is developed by Naughty Dog Inc, the creators behind the UNCHARTED, Jak and Daxter, and Crash Bandicoot series.

Neil Druckmann, Creative Director, and Bruce Straley, Game Director, gave us all a very, very brief snippet on what to expect in The Last of Us:
The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven tale about a modern plague decimating mankind. Nature encroaches upon civilization, forcing remaining survivors to kill for food, weapons and whatever they can find. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave young teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

Sony Computer Entertainment America ANNOUNCES THE LAST OF US, A NEW PLAYSTATION®3 EXCLUSIVE DEVELOPED BY NAUGHTY DOG
LOS ANGELES, December 10, 2011 – Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC announced today The Last of Us, a new franchise created exclusively for the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. Developed by Naughty Dog, the creators of the highly acclaimed and best-selling UNCHARTED™ series, The Last of Us was unveiled in a world premiere trailer at the Spike TV 2011 Video Game Award Show.

The Last of Us is a genre-defining experience that blends survival and action elements to tell a character driven story about a population decimated by a modern plague. Abandoned cities are being reclaimed by nature and the remaining survivors are killing each other for food, weapons and whatever they can get their hands on. Joel, a ruthless survivor, and Ellie, a brave teenage girl who is wise beyond her years, must work together to survive their journey across what remains of the United States.

“We are excited to finally unveil The Last of Us, a project the team has been working hard on for some time,” said Evan Wells, Co-President of Naughty Dog. “Naughty Dog’s mission is to change the way people experience videogames. We are confident The Last of Us will take a leap forward in cinematic gaming and storytelling, providing gamers with an experience unlike anything else in the industry.”

The Last of Us is developed by some of the industry most talented game designers including Bruce Straley, game director, and Neil Druckmann, creative director. Naughty Dog advanced to the forefront of the videogame industry in 1996 with the successful introduction of Crash Bandicoot on the original PlayStation. The developer extended the franchise with Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back, Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped and Crash Team Racing, selling 22 million copies worldwide and led to Naughty Dog being the most successful video game developer in the United States for that console generation. The team then created the Jak and Daxter franchise including Jak & Daxter: The Precursor Legacy®, Jak II™, Jak 3™ and Jak X: Combat Racing™. All four of titles are PlayStation®2 “Greatest Hits”. In 2007 the team released UNCHARTED: Drake’s Fortune® and followed with UNCHARTED2: Among Thieves™ and the recent November launch of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception™. Having currently sold over 13 million units worldwide, the UNCHARTED franchise represents some of the most impressive graphics, sound and processing capabilities found on PS3.
