huh sorry? are you saying they ARE coming out in 2012.. or asking if they are?
I'll only buy a complete season, not a sampler disc like what has been released internationally. I bought Season 1 of Star Trek TOS, but Season 2 and 3 never freaking came to NZ, so if they going to base it off sales, frak em, they either bring them all, or don't bring any at all. |

I'm saying they ARE coming out next year.
JB Hi-Fi here got in just seasons 1 and 2 of Star Trek: TOS. When I asked Paramount some time ago when season 3 is coming out, all they said was "We don't know." I agree with you. They either release them all or not at all. I'm not going to start buying Beverly and Deanna on Blu-ray if they're only going to release a couple of seasons. And then Paramount will wonder why no one's buying them. |

Maybe in Australia.. but when Season One came out over here in NZ, it was 24.95 lol.. if season 2 and 3 had been that price, they would have sold crap loads. They need to way up price vs quantity imo. Price too high = no sale, price too low = no profit... price just right = whammo

I remember when the TNG DVD box sets first came out, they were about $200each. I said "I'm not paying that much."
But a few years ago they had a sale where TOS, TNG, DS9 and VOY sets were selling for $80 each. I then snapped up every single season I didn't have, not on the one trip mind. One time I went into Big W and asked the entertainment counter attendant which seasons of DS9 they had. She said "seasons 3, 4, 6 and 7" so I picked up all four. If it wasn't for that sale, it would've been very different. |

If Paramount's listening then there's a very easy way to get Aussies to buy your releases: stop charging twice as much for the same thing.
I don't think Aussies are any more gullible than people from anywhere else so why Paramount thinks it's cool to whack such high prices on the titles is beyond me. Seriously, season 1 & 2 of TOS were $120+ in JB on release (and have rarely gone sub-$100 since) yet the US release which looks exactly the same save for the lack of ratings logos was about $67 delivered. Australia is, as far as I recall, a large market for Star Trek and yet Paramount doesn't seemed to have cottoned on to the fact that what worked 10 years back when the shows were just getting their DVD releases doesn't work now. Exchange rates have improved and there's much larger participation in the global marketplace. There's no reason we as consumers should pay that much when Paramount's discs are region free and therefore have the same content. Their releases are consistently more expensive and consistently take longer to go on sale. Unlike WB, Sony and Universal we've never seen Paramount titles in 2 for $20 sales. Until about a year back they'd never even been in 2 for $30 sales. They'd only occasionally go sub-$20. I'll be buying TNG all right but I won't be getting stung for the "privilege". This will be my third time buying TNG so I won't be spending any more than I have to. Make our local price reasonable and I'll buy here - make it an insult to local consumers and myself and others will (with good reason) take our business elsewhere. Oh, and for the love of God release the things at the same time as the US and UK! Paramount's missed the boat so many times by dragging the chain with releases and also cancelling releases mid-way (such as TOS), the result being either making people import to get them early or alienating the local market by stiffing them on the ability to buy a complete set locally. My 2 cents... ![]() |

Good news Trekkies.
I spoke to Paramount today and they said that both the sampler disc and complete first season will be released in July. I asked them why the two of them are released the same month and the attendant said she didn't know. She was just going with the email she was sent. |

Everyone, I got a letter back from Paramount this morning regarding the Blu-ray release of this series.
"Hi Adam, Thank you for your letter. We very much appreciate the time you've taken to write to us. Your feedback has been taken into consideration. Please find enclosed a token of our gratitude for your support. You've raised concerns about pricing and I think you and Star Trek fans will be pleased to see that the retail price will be at a much more accessible price point than previous new releases. We can't divulge any specific details as of yet. As for the release of the rest of the series, you will be pleased to hear that Season 2 is already being planned for release and if Star Trek fans support these titles, there should be no reason why the whole series shouldn't follow. Once again, your support is much appreciated. Regards, Guy Rob Paramount Home Entertainment Australia Assistant Brand Manager - Catalogue & Televison." |
