Default 50GB BD-R media now available at Panasonic Direct

http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs...00000000005702

Big URL ... and, with my SW-5582 only burning at 1x in Nero, this'll take a long time to burn... But I ordered one and they say it's shipping.

$1 per GB... Well, I guess we have to start somewhere...

I personally think that this recordable aspect will be the main one of interest for me until they get the mastering for the movies improved...

yeah me too. 1 a gig is the same you paid for hard drives not to long ago so it doesn't seem that unreasonable to me especially if its a bd rw

Aryntha, I wonder if, since its a panasonic Disc in a panasonic drive, it will burn at true 2x... We're in the process of getting some ourselves but if you find anything out.... do tell

I certainly will! Would be interesting if it was something as simple as the drive just not being aware of other media types out there... May just be a firmware update... I remember similar problems with early Pioneer DVD-R devices back when they were new...

any new form of media is going to have problems, we've just gotten spoilled by the compatability that has become so standard with the all the rest of the optical media out there, things are going to smooth themselves out, no doubt about it.
