blu ray bootleg?

i went to a flea market that's in my area this morning and there was a vender selling bootleg blu rays and dvd's.they were $8 for the blu ray with no case or $11 with the case.he only had three blu rays to choose from,casino royale,300,or the smallville season 6. he wanted $25 for smallville with the case.i was afraid of spending $25 and i already have casino royale but i don't have 300. i figured for $8 bucks i'll try it and if it didn't work no big deal. so i get home and try playing it on my ps3 and man it took like 3-4 minutes to load when all my regular blu rays load pretty quick.after it loaded it only gave me the option to play the movie with no extra features.i checked my tv info when it was playing and sure enough it said it was 1080p.now my ? is anyone who has this movie are there extra feature and also the picture itself looked weird,is that normal.also i read or heard somewhere that you can't copy blu rays .so can anyone tell me what gives? sorry for such along post.

They more likely were stolen, not bootlegs, rewriteable blu media is still too expensive to make bootlegging profitable.

I dont see how you could have possibly bought a bootleg for 8 bucks. Even de BD blanks are more expensive.

I am sure he got them cheap from a pawn shop or something. I wouldnt worry about it too much.

My thought, too. Sounds like a recompression to DVD-9 to me, formatted as a BD.

I've already watched at least 10 movies with no extras at all. Many of the initial Lionsgate releases for example had nothing.

Wouldn't checking in the XMB whether the PS3 called it a DVD or BD answer the question? Or put it in your DVD player or PC and see if it reads it.

I would guess the picture quality would be the real test - you said it looked wierd so it's likely a standard dvd copy faked to look like a blu-ray. I once got duped a few years back on Amazon marketplace. Bought two "used" dvd's that turned out to be bootlegs made in China - crummy, overly compressed pq and tons on Asian subtitles you never see on region 1 disks.

Not sure if you are kidding here, but if you're talking about the BD-ROM Mark, that's used to track down whose equipment is used for making unauthorized copies (if they do have the mark), not to track down stolen copies of the physical media.
