Play.com have this and the steelbook as a double play. Amazon say it's just the blu-ray....

Which is it?

Both normal and steelbook release are actually blu-ray only. Double play is a mistake

When I was visiting a friend I saw some of this on Sky HD movies, & the picture looked really good.

Double Indemnity Blu-Ray Review

The review gives it a complete thumbs up. I don't know if there's something wrong on my display but the screenshots show very coarse grain, what looks like digital noise. Is that expected or do I not know what I'm talking about?

I am not seeing what you are seeing

Double Indemnity:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...318&position=1

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...318&position=2

Other releases:

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...37&position=12

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...72&position=17

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...272&position=2

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...736&position=2

The type of harsh noise you are thinking of would be something like this (I assume this is what you mean):

https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/scree...36&position=15

Better to see the film in motion, not look at screencaptures and form a definitive opinion.

My fave film noir. I have already pre-ordered the SteelBook from eurekavideo.co.uk/offers for £16.99 with free shipping. Cannot wait for this to arrive.

Very happy this is looking like a good disk. Only saw the film for the first time a couple of years ago, looking forward to adding it to the collection.

Been waiting a while for this. Definitely a milestone in blu-ray noir releases. Got the steelbook coming. I'm willing to support a double dip of Indemnity, if Universal gets around to releasing this in our region.

For those thinking 'why didn't the Richard Schickel commentary get ported?', it sucked anyway. Terrible commentary. Glad they went with the better of the 2. Although I would have liked to hear the commentary track that was on the Australian disc.

This was the first film we talked about in my Media Studies class way back when, it was the first (and only) time I'd seen it and it was a recorded off BBC2 VHS in a classroom - I loved it then so I can't wait to watch it 'properly' on my big TV through the home cinema amp

Ordered the Steelbook as part of my 20% off at HMV haul the other day.

Great that hear the MOC BD of Double Indemnity has a top notch A/V presentation. My only question would be what happened to the aspect ratio? The film was shot in the Academy ratio (1.37) and is being presented in 1.32, I wonder why it has been cropped down that much. (if that is what happened)

If I remember correctly, the same thing happened with the Kind Hearts and Coronets BD. (though that disk still looks incredible)

Excellent review of a film classic. I wouldn't expect anything less from Eureka/Masters of Cinema though anyway. Mine will be here in a few weeks...can't wait!

Universal is rumored to be releasing a blu of this later in the year in the US. This is according to a release list leaked earlier this year that has proven itself accurate.

Monty, 1.37:1 to 1.33:1/1.32:1 is standard masking. Nothing to worry about.

Good to know, thanks.

Can't wait to get this one in the mail! One of the seminal noir films and so much fun to watch.

After years of Carlotta teasing us with this (for finally abandoning the project due to the loss of the newly made HD master), MoC brings it live !

Can't wait to receive mine.
