Default To anybody who might still be upset about the Paramount deal...

I present Stardust, the third major day-and-date release in a row not to have lossless audio, after Transformers and Shrek 3. If a studio is too cheap to put lossless on a $39.99 release (and with the running times, it doesn't appear to be a space issue), then I don't think you Blu-only folks are missing much. Maybe in 18 months they will have their act together.

I doubt this film will even sell that well, I went and saw it, didnt really think much of it.

As to the whole paramount hi def disc stuff, I was not really even pleased with any of their releases on blu, never really had a transfer that impressed me.

Besides Transformers were there really any other titles that anyone was really that upset about losing? They reaped what they sow and will go down with a shinking ship as we all know.

Stardust was a wonderful film, it had a little bit of everything.... robert de niro was a bit odd, but it was an enjoyable film, I'm disappointed it's going to be on HD-DVD

I agree, time to move on and let this go. Revisit and get excited in about 16 months or so.

I agree with you, but I think it's mostly a bandwidth issue, not space.

enjoy

I have a hunch that Paramount will buy out thier contract b4 the 18 months is up...

lets theorize, in the 4Q this year Blu-ray sales continue to increase, and more businesses go BD exclusive, come January after Warner has analyzed the sales figures see BD was winner by a fair margin and they switch to BD. Universal after a couple months switches to BD or neutral, if this all happens the only Exclusive studio HD-DVD will have possible only studio they'll have is Paramount/Dreamworks, they'll hold out likely for about 6 months with lots of releases, but finally realizing HD-DVD is dead.

that's just how I think it's going to play out I don't have any inside information or anything (don't go making rumors about this)

I agree it was quite good... MUCH better than most of the this summers sequels suitable for family viewing (Potter, Pirates, Shrek, etc).

Ah well. I'll watch on HD when it comes to one of HD movie channels that I subscribe to.

Supposedly the technical people at Paramount much preferred Blu-ray. I believe the lack of lossless audio is a thumb in the eye of HD DUD by the techies at Paramount. I'm looking forward to when they come back to Blu-ray. Hopefully we'll receive a nice reencode of Transformers with lossless audio to make up for it not being released on time.

The rat, er, A-man has already left the ship. It's pretty clear to everyone but the fanbois that S.S. HD DUD is taking on copious amounts of water.

It was with Blades of Glory. The BD was to have lossless audio.

The HD DVD is packed full and they only dedicate less than 18GB to the feature.

HD extras chew up space - HD DVD was not designed to handle extras in HD...

HD-DUD: The look and sound of not quite as good as blu-ray but good enough for most of the nut cases that support the format like savage, foaming at the mouth, rabid dogs. You just wait til we have TL51 discs and new players.
