Great, love the M.I films.

Not sure why, as none have before, but I expect a steelbook for this

You heard it here first...

I like the first two, love the third and fourth! They better do a remaster of the first three (they're apparently not that good) otherwise i'll just stick with the fourth

Because it's Paramount and they love their steelbooks in the UK?

If so it'll almost certainly be an HMV exclusive like all of the Paramount steelbooks (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, everything from True Grit onwards at least) and it'll be £19.99.

Worth it though, this was a great film. Best action film of last year. But those holding out new transfers of the first three - forget it. If they didn't do it for the Ultimate Collection reissue from when this was released then it won't be done for this boxset. They'll just bundle the old discs in.

I would've thought that it would be the same blu's recently released under the Trilogy pack plus the new one.

1-3 were recently re-released in other territories with new AVC encodes (of the same old master) and DTS MA, so some have been reasonably speculating the 1-4 set in US/UK will finally contain those versions.

Don't get me wrong, I know the encodes are out there and it's always a possibility. But, for whatever reason, Paramount UK didn't release them in the 'Ultimate' trilogy box set which was the natural time to do so - it got a decent push, advertising wise, and it would have set it apart from the previous box set (and earned the word 'Ultimate').

The trilogy had their re-release moment. If they didn't do it then then I doubt they'll go to the expense of doing it for the next release where the original films are thrown in with the fourth being the main draw. I'm not trying to piss on everyone's chips, just saying it's very unlikely.

It could be that the AVC encoded/DTS-HD discs were not ready until late in 2011, the UK 'Extreme' set was released in October while the superior Hong Kong and Scandinavian releases came out in early 2012, perhaps if they had just waited our set would also have had the better discs.

If they pass up this chance with the 1-4 boxset then

I do hope it is a remastered version as I held off buying them all with the reviews on this site! 1 and 3 are excellent, I think 2 is the weakest of them but I've not seen the 4th yet. I doubt its going to change that though as from what i've heard it sounds awesome!!

Do you think it's worth a trip to the cinema to catch the 4th before it goes off?

I hate it when they repackage something and especially when they use words like 'Ultimate' !!

Yes Indy, you did say in the Maximum Impact Trilogy thread the BBFC UK ratings were on the Scandinavian discs so maybe there is a chance we will get the newer versions for the previous three Missions.

Ghost Protocol was fantastic, now officially the most successful in the series. Had me hooked from beginning to end, it had great set pieces, great cast (Paula Patton in that dress) and I can't wait to own it. Either buying it on its own or in a new boxset.

I hope I'm wrong and that's the case. I don't have the first three and would happily use that as an excuse to buy the boxset.
