Default Target Australia No HDDuD

Hey guys, went to my local target store here in australia 3 weeks ago and there was one bay of blu ray and one bay of hddud.

Went back there tonight to see if there were any new titles to pick up and found there was still one whole bay of blu rays and no hddud! tere was two titles left of hddud at the bottom of the rack and that was it!

i asked the girl at the counter i dont think she had much of an idea but was led to believe that the sales werent there to support hddud

Please note Taget Australia is NOT related to any other Target chains around the world. So US Target's policy has no relation to any policy of the Australian Target policy.

Figures compiled recently by GfK Australia for Sony Australia show high-definition adoption by consumers has doubled since the second quarter of the 2006 financial year.

Dennis Butler, research project manager for GfK and author of the report, says HD is the new standard in consumer electronics.

``HD has doubled in growth, with non-HD models obviously in decline, dropping 42 per cent in sales from this time last year.''

HD movies, recorded on the new replacement discs for DVD called Blu-ray and HD-DVD, show a 3400 per cent increase from the last quarter.

Blu-ray notched up the biggest share of the market, carving out 87 per cent of total HD movie sales. HD-DVD movies were way behind at just over 12 per cent.

Just some further info of the state of Blu-ray vs HD DVD in Oz.
