Default Paramount tittles?

http://www.dvdtown.com/news/paramoun...next-year/4806

only 30+ hd dvd exclusives from paramount. you gotta figure some of them are The Heartbreak Kid, Stardust, Bee Movie (probably more like C- movie), so we aren't looking at any huge losses. 30 isn't a lot at all, 2 every 3 weeks or something. nothing that blu-ray won't be able to stomp.

Thirty is about what they did for Blu-ray and HD DVD in the past year. So it's essentially more of the same. Which is also sort of what Paramount was like in the early DVD days as well. Not a lot of output but some good key titles along the way.

I'd be tempted by some of them but the lack of advanced audio really turns me away from it.

I'm so pleased that it was Paramount that we lost rather than Disney, WB, 20th Century Fox, or MGM.
Paramount was far and away my least favorite of them all, not counting their Spielberg titles. Which we didn't lose anyway thanks to Mr. Spielberg knowing quality when he sees it.

To be fair, it is not 30 titles for next year, it is 30 titles "are already planned for 2008." So it could be at least 30 plus what ever more they plan as the year goes out. But it is not very impressive considering the amount of money that they were paid. You really can not blame them for taking the cash as they won't be making it in sales if they do not release a more titles.

To be fair, paramount blows. Just like HD-DUD. Both have FAILURE written all over them.

I think you read that wrong, they said they already have plans for 30+ so far.
Not that's all.

Seriously, w/o the Spielberg titles as exclusives they could release 100 discs and it won't amount to a hill of beans. More and more HD DVD owners are getting pissed about the last gen audio also, they're not exactly playing to their crowd and I imagine it has to do double-dipping Blu down the road.

Why don't you just admit that HD-DUD sucks and is going to lose this war and be done with it.

from a business prospective you'd guess that they already had most of it mapped out. but they could throw another 10 titles in their maybe. stil like somebody said if its not speilburg, its probably not going to sell incredibely well. so in a nutshell it looks like toshiba payed about 150 million dollars for 50 movies. They basically paid 3 million dollars a movie for TIMED exclusives like Stardust and The Heartbreak Kid, what a ripoff. and remember some of there xmas 08 releases we might be getting a mere 4 weeks later, so its not really like we really have to wait. this is no big loss, and i think ppl are making it out to be bigger than it is. its not fox, its not disney, its not warner, basically paramount ain't got sh1t with out speilburg,

Beowulf likely will be available on Blu-ray Disc in other countries, the same with Braveheart and Gladiator since they are handled by different distributors other than Paramount/DW.

Though I must mention that they haven't announced either Titanic or Braveheart for HD DVD while they just announced new editions for the DVD format.

Iron Man will be distributed by Concorde Filmverleih in Germany.

ridley scott has already damanded movies be released duel format, so gladiator will not be exclusive. i really, really doubt the Godfater is coming. IMO the ones that will sell very well are Gladiator and Braveheart and depending when those are released, if they are released it will be mere months before blu-ray sees them.

You are only hurting the overall chances for the best (blu-ray) format to succeed in the long run.

Thanks!
