Origin Hate Thread - Blu-ray Forum

So I recently got Battlefield 3 on the Spring Sale for $30. Great price for a game that has all these gamer's choice awards and all, and I love my shooters.

Even before it released in October, I was aware it was NOT going to be on Steam, rather exclusive to Origin (just like Mass Effect 3, just after I bought 1 and 2 on Steam for $5). This was an immediate turn off, but I decided to install Origin to give it a shot and see what the BETA was like.

WOW. Completely terrible. I launch game from Origin, and it opens Google Chrome; REALLY? Play a game off my browser? You can't show my my rank progress from the game just like BFBC2 and others? Definitely an Origin thing, I hear; only game on account is BF3, so clarify if it's just BF3, then. Also, I go into options to turn up settings and enable full screen, because I saw it was windowed, and even after clicking full screen, still a window! A bunch of hiccups I blamed Origin for everything, and only blamed it as a BETA I was wishing would come to Steam as a final product later on down the line.

Well behold, nearly 6 months after release, no news of it to Steam and Origin has it on sale. I decided to go against my "boycott" of Origin for taking 2 franchises I love to play casually, or when I have more time in depth, and making it exclusive to their new shitty DDS (digital distribution service, ala Steam).

So I wait about 2 hours to install once I buy it, and then play game. It wasn't the BETA, but again, Origin booting up Google Chrome to launch game and select servers from browser, and instantly SPAMMED with bloatware "needed to play the game"-- What the ****?! I paid $30 for this game (I feel bad for those who paid $60), and you want me to wait longer to install shit bloatware EVERY server?!

And as if that wasn't enough, when I finally quick match something to shoot somebody, the first words I hear are from soem chubby sounding gamer, "Man, this game is dead now. Not nearly as active as it was." Press tab to pull up scoreboard and teams... 7 people in the server. -_____-

And then for the game itself, no doubt attributed to Origin, is vacant as hell, I have to run (unlimited stamina, btw; so much for "most realistic shooter") over 500m to my "defend this point" style map and aiming down the sights you have to hold down the RMB and shoot with LMB; I prefer to click down RMB and have it stay aiming down the sights so I don't have to awkwardly fumble with maybe letting middle finger slip off and go out of aiming down sights.

Biggest waste of $30 I've ever spent, and Origin is the absolute worst, bootleg, knock off version of the already great (not perfect, but still amazing) Steam. EA is greedy, and if they continue to do this exclusive, not on Steam shit, I won't buy the games-- Even if they're $5! IDGAF!

TL;DR version: Origin is terrible, and I'm going back to gaming on Steam where it's active servers in every game I've played online.
