The floodgates are finally opening. This has been one helluva year for popular (and niche) catalog titles.

Finally but I still say 2011 was the best year for catalogs, 2012 is close though.

I've always loved this movie ever since seeing it in the theater. I'll gladly own it on BD!

I did as well back in the days when people recorded off HBO.

I wonder if Warwick Davis will sell a signed, region-free copy on his website.

Not sure if it's just nostalgia but Willow is an amazing film I saw in theather and watched repeatedly on VHS. It handles fantasy material with a grittiness uncommon to today's market (for example, decapitated dragons) and carries through with an epic scope. I considered my DVD valuable (to me) because Willow seems an unlikely candidate for blu-ray release. Although I am excited by this announcement, for now I'll believe it when morphed pigs fly.

Slightly off topic but the Willow NES game was also a favorite of mine, worthwhile if you can get it emulated since it's particularly unlikely we'll see an upgrade for old niche NES cartridges.

I doubt we'll see many special features with a catalog release like Willow but I bet there are some golden retro making of segments or other that are out there.

One of my most-watched movies as a kid! Don't know what I'd think about it nowadays though. If the price is right I'll probably pick it up.

I was just thinking about this! I was writing down a list of upcoming blu releases that I want and Willow always comes up along with Ghostbusters 2.

This and Masters of the Universe in October woo-hoo

Always thought Willow was one of the most underrated movies of the 80s. Just had the misfortune of coming out the same year as Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, otherwise it probably would have cleaned up the FX Oscars that year.

Cannot wait for this! Oy, my aching wallet...
