Apocalypto?? - Blu-ray Forum

Im going to buy 4 blu's today to stomp on HD-DUD and wanted to know the thoughts of Apocalypto? The movie itself...is it great? PQ and SQ on Blu?

PQ and SQ are outstanding. Also a plus for some, the aspect ratio fits on an HD set with no black bars.

As far as the movie itself, like other Mel efforts it seems to polarize people. I really like it; interesting, fast-paced and good eye candy. Yes it has some savage gore, and yes having the Spaniards show up when the Mayan cities were still a going concern is not historically accurate. And no full moons the night after an eclipse! But I still like it.

This is a must have. I loved the film when i saw it at the cinema. The BD version will not disappoint. The picture quality is stunning.

Yup, great picture in sound. I dug the movie too.

The second half is a non stop chase; like being on a rollercoaster.

Awesome! I have heard great things about it but just wanted to get some other thoughts. Any other movies you would recomend? I have 300, drakula, superman returns,Resovour Dogs so far. I just started buying them in the last couple weeks

I have not seen it yet myself but I heard that the PQ is awesome.

So with it being as cheap as it is, I felt I have nothing to loose and picked one up. Go for it!

and yah, Casino and POTC 1&2 both top tier flix!

I agree with everyone. This is a must have Blu-ray title. The story, PQ, AQ - all awesome.

I showed this to a friend (who owns HD DVD) and he left so pissed because this title is exclussive to Blu.

This is one of my favorite movies. The story is great plus the blu-ray PQ and AQ are outstanding. I may even venture to say it is the best blu-ray in terms of PQ i have seen. Also, you'll be able to rewatch this one over and over; or at least I can.

Definitely pick it up, you will not be disappointed.

PQ and SQ were good, but Mel made a movie out of a stupid jungle chase. The rest of the movie sucked and I was terribly unimpressed. That seen with the jaguar was about the saddest piece of special effects that I have ever seen!!! The jaguars in Team America were more realistic/ accurate

PQ and AQ are great. Its also helps that its an awesome movie. Its one of my favorite blu's.

Quite bloody but in a very primal way. It's subtitled only in case you give a poo. Incredible film.

This movie really grabbed me and pulled me in to the story and the people. The PQ and QA are absolutely top-notch but it was the story and the pacing that made it worthwhile in the end. This was one of the movies I've enjoyed the most on blu so far - wasn't quite sure what to expect going in..

P.S. Do NOT let young children even catch glimpses of some of the scenes .. they can be quite horrific and disturbing at times...even for some adults I would think.

I can't recommend it. But if you liked Passion, and Mel's other films, you will like it and the picture and audio are superb.

in my opinion it gets top marks for everything, VQ, SQ and for the movie itself.

This is one of my first Blu-rays and one of my favorites. I thought is was a great movie, but not one you would watch over and over.
