First thought was, "It's a bit late for Asylum, isn't it? "

Haha, but they are making I am legend 2! Supposedly a prequel sequel.

WAIT WAIT WAIT, It´s truth! It was confirmed by MagicBox Czech republic that Fox have release day for Avatar and I am Robot on Blu-ray 3D. Avatar 3D could be out this September (in my country).

Here is my favourite site with Blu movies, pre-orders are up. http://www.filmarena.cz/blu-ray-ja-robot-3d

It´s in Czech.

It's Will Smith in Czech.

(And evidently converted, as foreign countries seem to like that much more than we do, for some reason not yet fully understood. )

Why is it using a poster from Independence Day?

I can (ahem) think of ONE Fox film that could benefit from the newer conversion method.

(Okay, technically Lucasfilm, not Fox...)

Ian Harvey, senior vp, advanced technology at Fox, explained that while there is not enough available 3D content to grow a market, the economic model currently doesn’t work as 3D conversion of a feature can cost between $40,000-$100,000 per minute.
I'd spend a year converting the whole movie on my own for that kind of money!! The world has gone mad.

I'd do a better job than most of them too. See?

Concerning Fox and 3D conversions, I found this piece of info when looking at the technical details for Titan A.E. on IMDB the other day...

Quote:
Laboratory
Technicolor

Film length (metres)
2641 m (Spain)

Film negative format (mm/video inches)
35 mm

Cinematographic process
D-Cinema (3-D version: 2012 re-release)
CinemaScope

Printed film format
D-Cinema (Texas Instruments DLP 1280 x 1024, 1.9 : 1 anamorphic)
35 mm

Aspect ratio
1.33 : 1 (VHS release)
2.35 : 1
This might not mean anything at all, but I still raised an eyebrow. Titan A.E. is actually one of my favourite animated films, one that has only grown stronger over the years if you ask me. I watched my old DVD the other day, and while it's still great for a DVD, one would kill for a blu-ray, and the visuals really lend themselves to 3D but I still find this info curious. The film tanked at the box office and one wonders how successful a 3D conversion would be. Oh well, here's hoping...

Did you do that yourself? Looks great!. Did you use the StereoPhotoMaker? Out of curiosity, how do you actually make 3d images if you don't have 2 separate photos for each eye?

Thumbs up

I Robot 3D needs to ship on Blu Ray 3D worldwide, provided it's a worthy conversion. Even if it's along the lines of Clash 3D, I'd still consider it at the right price (24.99$ or less) as I, Robot is a great adventure/action flick.

Will Smith will return in MIB3D this summer, and I, Robot was a fun movie to watch with a good storyline I thought, good action. I am Legend 0, if it's a prequel, should hopefully be in 3D.

If you did that single frame conversion, hats off to you, as it's a great example of strong 3D as every new 3D movie should be aiming for IMO. Do you also have the side by side stereo version to present for 3DTVs? Filling in the gaps, how long did it take you after shifting the characters? More than one frame is another challenge, as consistency of the in-fills takes careful planning.

Thanks Zivouhr,
I converted all of Carnival of Souls (took 8 months) using depth maps and then started to convert House on Haunted Hill. I did the first 12 minutes in side by side format and then after a few months, had enough of the whole process. To get the 3D depth that I wanted, that 12 minutes took almost as long as it took to convert the whole of Carnival of Souls.
All is explained here on my old blog.....House on Haunted Hill 3D
