Default Blu-ray player rental

I may be showing my age, but back in the days...
when DVD first showed up, the rental stores rented
players to ease the transition. Wanna see how it looks?
spend $25 for the weekend and see yourself !!!

They did that with game machines too...I wonder if they still do that?

No, they don't

BB quit renting hardware years ago. It's simply too expensive to do, and not enough people do it

oh yeah, that's funny I had forgotten about that! I don't remember it for DVD but I do remember my dad renting a VHS player, A LONG TIME AGO, so that he could make an "archieval copy" (I believe that is the current politically correct term for it) of the GodFather series. I and II of course since III blew and I don't even remember if it was out then.

They rented out video game systems too.

But honestly, how many people would create a rental account, rent a BLU-ray player and just never bring it back?

That gets harder to pull off every day...not that it's impossible, but if someone had the drive to do that they might as well just get a real job & buy one.

The problem is that you need so much more than just a player to try Blu-rays.

1. You need a quality television or projector
2. You need a modern receiver
3. You need really good speakers
4. And you also need decent cables

So, it's not as simple a transition as going from VHS to DVD.
