Default Shouldn't the BOGO sales be in the news section of the site?

Hi,

Lots of people know about several Buy One Get One Free sales going on currently but I don't remember seeing this up on the front page of bluray.com in the news section.

Shouldn't this qualify as news? I hope every effort is made to make sure no one misses the boat on these great sales.

I agree, Josh, I think you should post that up as a news item, it's definitely might make more people aware of it. Certainly can't hurt anything.

Sales aren't really news. They are great for promoting the Blu-ray cause, but they really aren't news.

What about this?

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=126

or this gimmick?

https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=280
https://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=548

Regardless, I think posting this sale in the news section would make more people aware of it. Not everybody reads the forum.

The first post was by Marwin, so you'll have to ask him about that

The other two posts regard an offer specifically held by the BDA. Posting about that offer promotes Blu-ray in general, and not just a specific store. If that store wants to promote their sale, they can put up a banner ad on this site. It is not viable to post regarding every sale that happens every week. We have a Hot Deals Forum for that.

If the BDA came out and said, "hey, we are promoting these sales at Best Buy, Circuit City, and Amazon", then sure, I'll post a piece of news about it. But as it is, these sales should be considered "run by the retailers" and as such, aren't news.

Ok, I guess,

I just have a feeling someone's going to miss the boat on these sales.

So far the sale is at Amazon, Best Buy, Circuit City, DeepDiscountDVD, FYE, Movietime, Target and WallMart unless I forgot some. I don't think it's fair to say the individual retail outlets are responsable.

This is the biggest and most sucessfull sale I've seen and if it doesn't rate high enough to get a little space on the news page then I'm just not seeing things clearly. There must be something I don't know here and I'm ok with that.

Personally, I gave it all I had early in the week (in terms of buying) and wouldn't mind putting my efforts in to getting the word out about the sale so that others who may not even realize it's there would have the chance to get to it.
