It is out just not in numbers. The pioneer store in Costa Mesa already got the first shipment of them. And there are reports that they are hitting in the midwest. Which I must say blows my mind. Since Pioneer has there US offices on the west coast all there stuff comes it the west coast ports. But what can you do. Living in and around LA usually has its advantages but not this time.

Well, I know that Best Buy's official in-stock date for it was 10-08-07, but none of the actual stores in my region (South Fla) has any in stock, yet.

If you really want the best and are willing to pay for it; Loewe or Denon, when available.

Yes it is $999.99 they donot want to hit that 1K mark. And I can agree that about the price no option then the Denon would be the way to go but it is not out yet. And there is no street date at all.

PS3, now with the new version coming at $399, you can't beat that. Also, the load time is nothing compared to some players I hear.

Default ps3

PS3 by far!! Its the fastest, most reliable and upgradable BR player out there. On top of that you get a web browser with wifi, sony store to download games/1080p trailers etc..and an awesome game machine. It also plays SACDs and has the best upconverting of sd-dvd I have seen.

I agree with the PS3. I bought one simply for watching Blu-ray movies. I have to say that I never experienced a playback problem or slow load times. It is definitely worth it if you want to avoid any problems with upgrading to profile 1.1 and 2.0.

If you want to build a nice home theater system (no gaming) then the PS3 might not be the ideal choice if you can't deal with the heat and noise of the unit.
Personally, I want to hear the movie not the equipment.
Users are raving about the new Elite unit.
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=921164
Good load times (avg about 30 secs or less. POTC loaded in under 40 sec!) high build quality (typical of Elite units) and very high pic quality.
(better than all current players and SD quality as good if not better than the high end Toshiba units)
Looks like a winner if you want a serious HT piece to enjoy HD movies now.

If you can wait a bit, I'm sure the Denon model yet to be released will not disappoint as well. (but at 2x the price it better not!)

That new Pioneer Elite that is coming out is supposed to be the shizzle. I think it does DTS-MA bitstream too. That is a huge plus for me so if money is not an issue then definitely get that. I also have a standalone and love it!

I've been reading user reports from the UK on the new PS3 40GB.

The new unit has a reduced number of air vents on the unit and supposedly runs quieter.

PS3.. unless you want to wait 2-3 min at each BD-J title available.. and trust me.. the more complex those will get the longer it will take to load..

If Fan noise is bothering you, just put the PS3 in another room... the PS3 use bluthooth so it can be put anywhere within a range of 30 feet...
