Well this came as a surprise. Nickelodeon's finally putting their shows on Blu-ray with the release of the upcoming special, "It's a Spongebob Christmas!". It's now coming October 15th, 2013!

I'm personally REALLY excited for this, even though Spongebob's quality has gone down in recent years, in my opinion. Also, this could be a sign for more Nickelodeon Blu-ray releases in the future (coughKorracough)!

That doesn't look like Spongebob on the cover at all. It looks closer to how he would look in a South Park parody.

EDIT: Never mind, it's apparently stop-motion animation, inspired by the Rankin-Bass specials.

You can see the trailer here. No wonder it's coming out on BD--the visual-quality looks superb. A shame it will only be 30 minutes, though.

I am always looking to add Christmas movies and specials to my collection so I will be picking this up. Plus I do like spongebob well mostly the older episodes. I like that they went for the stop motion animation which you dont see to much of nowadays

I LOVE that the Fairly OddParents X Mas Special is a bonus as that is one of my favorites... I really hope that the first SpongeBob X Mas special is a bonus as well!

Good to see that it has a decent amount of bonus features (and it's only 14 bucks according to Amazon). May just pick this up. Guess this means that Nick isn't hesitant to put their stuff on Blu anymore. Hopefully we can get some other stuff - Avatar/Korra and the Rugrats movies? - later on.

Interestingly, the Blu-ray was still up for pre-order on the Canadian Amazon (http://www.amazon.ca/Spongebob-Squar...1729523&sr=1-1) until its release yesterday, but pretty much as soon as it went up to order regularly, it said "Temporarily Out of Stock." What happens to those who pre-ordered it?
