United Kingdom Kingdom of Plants with David Attenborough 3D Blu-ray (2012) [Region Free]

I did a search but found no topic on this one. I know its not strictly a "movie" but its still of interest to 3D fans everywhere. To anyone who has "Flying Monsters" on Blu-ray 3D, I thoroughly recommend this one too.

Here's my review....

Native 3D!
This 3D documentary about the plant kingdom is actually a series of three 50 minute programs: Life in the Wet Zone, Solving the Secrets, and Survival (running time: 150 minutes approx). It has some of the best 3D macro photography I have ever seen. Flowers come alive at bursting speed in 3D time-lapse close-ups, insects partner-up in exquisite 3D detail. This makes it, as David Attenborough states, "hypnotically beautiful".

The good-news is that I have tested "Kingdom Of Plants 3D With David Attenborough" , and it is playable in both Region A and Region B!
The 3D BD case comes in a slip-cover that has a 3D Lenticular front. It is a two-disc set, where the second disc is a 2D BD of "The Making of David Attenborough's Kingdom of Plants", (running time: 50 minutes approx).

It is available from Amazon UK currently at £13.99, but I've found by ordering in the U.S., VAT, which is a tax that is part of the price is removed, (if you are not in the UK you don't pay VAT so it is removed on the purchase invoice), the U.S. price is actually currently, only £11.66 British pounds sterling = $18.27 US dollars plus shipping.

I got a pretty decent sized nature/wildlife collection, this is something that would be the cherry on top it seems like. Going to pick this up soon along with Flying Monsters since it's cheap and the UK version is 70 minutes

Sounds interesting. Macro 3D photography. I like the variety of plants we have on earth, but I'd also like to see them use these macro cameras to create a documentary on 3D ants, bugs and other small creatures, like the pygmy marmoset, which I hear is as tiny as a finger when it's born.

I'm assuming this Plant documentary in the style of the show "Nature" on PBS Or Nova. The footage of bees sounds good. Thanks for the Review Gae.

You won't be disappointed. Both the content and 3D are excellent and the two of them take pride of place in my 3D collection.

P.S. Why can't I embed a video here? The HTML code seems to be switched off.

Question

Not sure why the HTML won't work. I would recheck my settings as I bet you already tried.

I will keep this DVD in mind for the strong 3D.

Sweet, went ahead and ordered the 2. Also snagged up the UK Zodiac since I don't feel like paying $40+ for the US version .

It normally says "HTML OFF" in the bottom left hand corner when I do a standard reply. Just looking now (doing a "quote" reply) and I can't see it. Strange.

Either way, I can't embed YouTube clips.

Amazon UK will not allow me to order this. It says it cannot be shipped to my address in the US. I have ordered from them before. Is this something limited to this particurlar item?

It is because it is being fulfilled by Amazon, not sold directly by Amazon.

Interesting. Maybe it's where you live in the U.S..
Both "Kingdom of Plants 3D" and "rainforest 3D" were shipped to me at the same time in the U.S.. They were also both listed together on the same Amazon.co.uk invoice/packiing slip.

It says on the Amazon.co.uk page - link - "In Stock" "Dispatched from and sold by Amazon.co.uk".

That was exactly what the problem was. There was another listing for the same Blu-ray from a different seller. I was able to purchase the one sold directly from Amazon. Strange that the non-Amazon seller came up first.

Just watched the first 50 minute episode....and I can't say enough good things about it. Not only was the 3D amazing but I actually learned so much cool stuff that was leaving me shaking my head while I was watching it. Bring on the next 2 episodes! This looks like it will be my favorite 3D film/documentary in my collection!

Yes, me too. I've also only watched the first episode "Rainforests" and thought it was great both for the content and the 3D. Just waiting to be in "educational mood" for the next two episodes (in between watching my 3D rentals and 2D movies).

Ordered this a couple of days ago and can't wait for it to arrive! I'm a big fan of Attenborough's nature programs.

Good to hear both the program and 3D are great.

I asked this before but didn't get an answer. Does this film promote the evolution theory?

It wouldn't let me order it either. I was able to get Rainforest and The Best of 3D but got an error saying there is a mailing address problem with ordering 3D Plants. That's wierd.

Make sure the item you are trying to purchase says Sold by Amazon UK. The first time I tried it, the Blu-ray was being sold by a company other than Amazon.

Do not buy from THIS seller.

Buy from AMAZON

I am not sure why when you do an actual search for this movie, the one sold by Amazon does not show up, only the one sold by Discs4all.

Take the Amazon link and you should be fine.

Thanks, I was able to order it with the Amazon link. Wish I had known that yesterday. I could have saved on shipping.
