Taiwan Ghibli ga Ippai Collection aka. Studio Ghibli Collection (Taiwan)

Welcome to my first thread. We are discussing the Studio Ghibli releases in Taiwan.
Now Available:

All films are released by Deltamac Taiwan under Disney/Studio Ghibli.
All films except for Ponyo on the Cilff by the Sea and From up on Poppy Hill are 2-Disc Blu-ray+DVD.
I could not find the Howl's Moving Castle Blu-ray cover in the official website, so I used the DVD cover instead.
All except Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea and From up on Poppy Hill which cost 798 Taiwan Dollars, cost 888 Taiwan Dollars.

Nice!
- What's the video like on those releases? Do they use the same transfer as the JP BDs?
- how much do these cost?

Don't know if it applies for all the releases, but the ones I've seen seem to be identical in audio/subtitles to the Hong Kong discs.

The Hong Kong "Ponyo" is in 1080 interlaced, but the back cover of the Taiwan disc says "1080p".

From up on Poppy Hill does not have Cantonese.
I think most if not all of these are different from HK releases because these TW discs have two sets of Chinese subtitles, one is a literal translation, the other is Mandarin dubtitle. HK releases do not do this.
Prices are about the same as HK releases.

By the way, I do prefer the TW and US covers simply because they are more of the 'normal type" with full color art.

Sorry, I don't want that. It's resolution differs from my other covers.

888 Taiwan Dollars each, 798 Taiwan Dollars each for Ponyo and Poppy Hill due to being 1-Disc.

I dunno, maybe the same as the Hong Kong Blu-rays.

Let us also talk about the Lion King, Cars 2, John Carter and Real Steel BD SteelBooks in Taiwan, they are also released by Deltamac under their division of Disney. We will also talk about the other Disney releases.

It is actually bigger than yours. You can simply re-size it to match your other pix.

All the pics you posted were resized as well, not by you, but by others.

I have a question for the owner of the Taiwan BDs. Is there any dubtitle in the picture?

There are usually two Chinese subtitles, one follows Japanese and one follows Mandarin dubbing.

Totoro already released.
Hmmm... DTS-HD MA 2.0 (Japanese) with Mandarin (complex & simplified), Japanese and English subs.

Please, complex Chinese is not a correct term. Use the term "traditional Chinese". Taiwan Chinese is not made more complex from traditional Chinese as it IS the traditional Chinese. Even government is trying to promote the term "正體字" and not to use the term "繁體字".

So the question is whether these are Japanese or Hong Kong ports, or all new encodes from Deltamac yeah? From what I can gather online it seems quite common for Taiwanese distributors to port Japanese releases, and I also read that Deltamac have a pretty good track record with 1080p releases. It's still quite a big risk though given you're probably looking at £20 a title.

EDIT: Checking the Tawan Blu-rays thread it looks like the Deltamac Ponyo is 1080i like the HK, which would suggest that these releases are probably HK ports.

The main problem is the complete lack of taiwanese etailers. Are our options basically Yesasia, Playasia, JSDVD.mall? Anyone know of any others?

I know this thread has been dormant. Since Ghibli Taiwan releases aren't really discussed that much, below are links containing pictures from two of my Taiwan Ghibli BDs (Only Yesterday and From Up on Poppy Hill) that I posted on the Ghibli Version Comparison thread.

Seeing as we now have conclusive evidence that the vast majority of these TWN releases are Japanese ports (transfer & JPN audio only) and ergo IMO superior to the corresponding HK releases (for the most part), would anyone mind me creating a new thread where I can fully index the information on each release and post photos of the physical media, etc, and also provide information on where (and how) to order?

I feel like we've begun to bog down the comparison thread with TWN edition BDinfo results & the like, and this thread is OK and all but compared to the sticky threads for the JPN and HK releases it's a bit disordered and we could do with a thread more organised in terms of the amount of info presented.

Would this be OK Mods? Jacob: Would you have a problem with me taking things over?

That would be a great thing, I have no problem about you taking things over, I also want you to please make a thread about all the Ghibli and Disney stuff released which are released in YesAsia, but I would request others if your refuse to make the YesAsia Disney thread.
