Exclamation You will NEVER guess what I came home to!

I'm sharing a place with my brother right now - ok, stop snickering. Well, I come home from work and a doctor appointment. I bring in the mail and toss his on the his bed. I jerk my head up as I see a big box.

Sitting on his bed in the box is a 26" Visio LCD HDTV. I'm like, he bought himself a TV? Or did he finally make some good money in real estate and buy this for me like he promised? I'll find out after I make myself dinner. I look over the specs on the box, and it isn't a bad TV, not my first choice, but pretty good.

I'm so stunned at this, because it is so unlike him, I did not notice there was a mini DVD player as well. He spends a lot in smaller amounts. This is very unusual.

I go to my room, open the door and .... The same frikken TV is sitting on my bed with matching DVD player! Not that I needed the DVD player, but hey, how can I complain?

Long story short, he did a little trade off on his real estate commission for this and paid nothing out of pocket for these things. I paged him and in the short exchange we had, I gladly ran out and treated us to Chinese food for dinner.

Finally took out my 19 year old 13" Panasonic. Farewell my faithful friend. I set it up and run to get my spare digital antenna for just such an occasion. Found ALL the digital stations without a hitch. Including the 13.x PBS stations that are tricky to get on my main TV. SWEET!

It is too large to put on my computer desk hutch, but I now have it setup as a secondary monitor at 1366 x 768 resolution. The clarity is stunning. So much better than this monitor which now shows its age.

Not the HDTV I would buy for myself but how can I complain for FREE? This is so VERY unlike him. I am usually upset at him about something or other, but today - no complaints! This puts him in a new light.

I have NEVER received such a generous and thoughtful gift in my entire life!

Quick specs:

Vizio 26" LCD ($448)
720p/480i/480p DVD
2 HDMI/component/Composite/audio
Side S-video/composit/audio
PC/RGB input
8 millisecond response
Channel guide on upcoming shows for that channel at the press of a button. My Favorite feature.

Congratulations on the new view. There is nothing like a hi-def TV. You will finally get to enjoy Blu-Ray the way it was meant to be viewed.

Again congrats.

Sounds pretty sweet! Get a calibration disc of some sort, set that bizzle up right, and start enjoying Blu-ray like you should!

Heh, heh. He has a reputation for being cheap and selfish. I am known as the giving one, and I do treat my nieces and nephews well for birthdays and Christmas. Finally got something back. Bless the Lord!
