There are a few things that Studios do that steers me on the side of madness (ok maybe a bit dramatic), but these are the things that truly piss me off (note: these can include disc, case, special edition packaging etc.):
1. When a movie franchise is inconsistent with packaging design This is the biggest one. I purchased the Fast and the Furious collection (1-4). All have a nicely numbered spine and are consistent in design. Then Fast Five comes out on Blu and the numbered spine and front cover layout is different, therefore lacks any consistency with the previous installments. 2. UK rating stickers I hate those horrible rating stickers (many of which are painted on) that plaster otherwise gorgeous packaging. I have passed on plenty of steelbooks with the fear that the sticker would be painted on. 3. Collectibles that have no place to store them once opened Specifically collector cards, film strips etc. that are included as a bonus, but have no pocket or pouch to put them so you can keep it with the actual case or packaging. Two that come to mind are Family Guy Blue Harvest and the Walking Dead Season 1 3-Disc collector set that included trading cards that fall out of the packaging. 4. TV sets that start as Volumes and then change to Seasons. The biggest culprit of this is the classic TMNT collection. The first 3 seasons were spread over like 5 volumes. 5. Steelbook/digibook release for one or two films in a series of films. I like to keep things neat and organized. That's why I hate when franchises will release a special edition for one film, but release the others in plain Amray case. The Matrix trilogy is the prime example. It has a Steelbook and a Digibook, but the sequels are only released as a two-pack. Say what you like about the quality of the sequels, but far worst films have gotten the steel/digibook treatment. What are your most hated things that are done with otherwise great Blu-Ray/DVD packages? Last edited by leburn98; 08-31-2012 at 05:29 PM. |
