For some odd reason that only Fox marketing fully understands, they have always piggybacked their home video releases of Fantastic Voyage with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea - on DVD literally as a double-feature double-sided disc. When Fox later re-released both of these titles as separate special editions under their "Cinema Classics" DVD banner, once again they hit the street almost simultaneously. So unless Fox is totally breaking with precedent here, I would bet a fin that within a month (or less) of FV, we will also see VTTBOTS. Maybe even day-and-date. Just one of the original production stills from Fantastic Voyage:
![]() What I always liked about this still is that it's a somewhat hard-to-find behind-the-scenes shot showing the large blue screen set used for much of this picture. In most other stills, we see this shot as a completed optical with the window matte background inserted. |

And that would be great news! I've got that old double feature DVD. VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA is my preferred movie. Here's a 39" Seaview I have on display. BTW...did you ever notice all of the great sci-fi movie and TV vessels have been commanded by Canadians? Leslie Neilsen in the C57D, Walter Pidgeon in the Seaview, William Shatner in the Enterprise and Lorne Greene in the Battlestar Galactica. They put American Guy Williams in charge of the Jupiter 2 and it crashed on another planet and never returned to Earth! ![]() ![]() |

UK Blu-ray is coming this November from Fox. U.S. release will probably be announced soon, along with Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea.
