Australia Prometheus (17/10/12) 4K UHD (August 2017)

Does anybody know anything more about JB's 'Metalbook'?

Preliminary artwork only:

Edit: NM in the releases thread it's said it's a Metalpak.

That's a Viva Metal Box. You can see the thin embossing around the edge and the plastic open sections at the top and bottom of the spine.

Haha! I'll take either over a metalpak.

Don't know what a Viva Metal Box is, but saw that advertisement in store today and mistook it for a steel-book too.

Ah well. This is the one time I prefer the home video artwork over the theatrical one anyway.

Does this come with the 3D version? It lists it in the feature list.

Doubt it. JB have made an error there. I'd put money on it being 2D only. The listing has always said 3D in the info but if you take a look at the corresponding Amaray release it says the same thing:

http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/d...al-copy/669505

EzyDVD's listing makes no mention of 3D: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/blu-ray/pro...opy/dp/6118252

JB's just mucked up the listing. That's why I went for the US 4-disc. No way I'm missing out on things and paying 50% more for the privelege. I'd personally also be very sceptical of the special features list. In the US it's 3 BDs, 1 DVD and a downloadable digital copy. The info at EzyDVD states the local standard release is 2-disc so 1 BD, 1 DVD. If so, I'm not sure how they've crammed the film plus all the special features on one Blu-ray. The listings state they have The Furious Gods and the Weyland Corp Archives but they're on a separate disc in the US set.

All I'd say is for those buying the triple play locally is to be very careful and check the packaging before buying. If the info on the sites is correct, not only do you miss the 3D version but it's also questionable about the inclusion of the best special features. There are 6 hours of features on the third US disc encoded in 1080p and there's no way they'd fit on a disc with the film so they're either not there or the local set is a 3-disc one. Considering EzyDVD and Big W both say it's 2 disc set I wouldn't be surprised if that extra disc with The Furious Gods (which is getting excellent reviews) is missing.

Glad I paid under $26 for the US release. The amount of conflicting info for the local release is a bit of a mess, though unfortunately not a very uncommon occurrence.

Very keen for this release, anything is better than those crappy Paramount metal slip cases.

Is the 4 Disc 3d Collectors edition available from Jbhifi the same as the US release which is available on Amazon?
They look the same, but i thought I read that there is a difference?

As far as I know, they're the same, apart from the cover art. At least I hope they are...

The video Ad on JB does state it comes with 7 hours of extras, so I guess it's safe to assume the 4-disc edition should be the same.

Edit: If so, that's a better price than what people who live in the U.S have been given even from Amazon, if you factor in the differences in average incomes between our countries and our economies.
That's a great price. Will wait till Thursday then.

Damn, if it weren't for the fact that the bonus features disc actually really mattered to me for once, that is a bloody fantastic deal.
