PS2 - The Legends? - Blu-ray Forum

As posted in another thread, I am now past my first 24 hours of Blu, with the purchase of that 60G PS3.

And even though I bought it as a movie player, I didn't forget to get the version with PS2 backward-compatibility included--
I literally hadn't played a new-generation console game in eight years--not since getting hooked on Final Fantasy VII on that old Mac-emulator patch--but bringing home a cheap copy of Kingdom Hearts (one of the main reasons for getting the PS2-enabled machine) is bringing those college-age urges allll back again.

So, with many years of Gamefly rentals to catch up on, I ask the experts--What are the required-reading PS2 Essentials, that all good players most know as sacred?
FF (although I never got past VIII, since it wouldn't play) and the Disney game is a given, and I know enough about Grand Theft Auto...
But I should've paid more attention to G4/Tech's "X-Play" when I used to watch it faithfully, so I didn't keep notes about who was PS and who was X-box--Is there a Hall of Fame out there, particularly for plot/RPG related titles?

(No driving, thanks, can't tell them apart, and any war/Tom Clancy would have to be pretty heavy on the narrative story to get my interest.)

My top PS2 picks would be:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistance - 10
Shadow of the Colossus - 9
Silent Hill 3 - 9

I've got plenty of other PS2 games I 'rated' a 9 when released but these ones really stand the test of time.

...are on my all-time fav list. I've been thinking about picking up Okami. That looks really good and it's got some high review scores.

"Must have" PS2 games esp. for a story-lover?

God of War I, II
Final Fantasy IX, X, XII
Shadow of the Colossus (not much story, but amazing game period)
Kingdom Hearts 1, 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, The Two Thrones (can probably skip Warrior Within)
Devil May Cry 1, 3 (definitely skip 2)
Soul Calibur II (but not III)

Depending on how you feel about Japanese RPGs, stuff from Vandal Hearts, Star Ocean, Xenosaga, etc. See Layd Dly's post above for some of the ones in this category.
