Default Creature from the Black Lagoon 3D effects have been altered

Very good article reviewing the matter here:

Yeah that is a very good read and the same goes for the Dial M for Murder article.

I'm not sure it is widespread or an authoring problem, but some have reported playing glitches on their Black Lagoon BDs.

I've wondered if the 3D blu-ray versions of these classic 3D films were faithful to the original look, and
I guess--at least for this title--we have the answer. it is not.
that's a real shame, although I'm sure the people who worked on the project can spout out a million reasons why it was necessary/and or better to change the perspective for various scenes. Only someone super familiar with the original 3D film would probably be able to know what has been changed anyway, but I still wish they had kept the original look 100%.
imo that is part of the whole reason for bringing these films back to 3D in the first place.
but, of course, they had to go the revisionist route.
disappointing.

I'm very disappointed to read the review on what they did with the convergence to this film, and shocked that a number of shots are actually reversed! What were they thinking? Why did they completely change the convergence? Very bad decision. The filmmakers knew what they were doing in the first place. Now they decide to completely alter the depth of the film. What a shame. Since I have some anaglyph glasses, and I'm also able to view using the cross-eyed method, I could see the difference in their screenshots between the blu-ray convergence and the way it should be. What a huge difference. They blew it totally with this disc.

Thankfully, it seems they didn't screw up Dial M For Murder and left the convergence just as it should be. It's too bad they had to mess around with Creature though. So now I wonder going forward, will other classics like this stay true like they allowed for Dial M For Murder, or will they continue to mess with things in a bad way like this one?

Only movie I ever saw in 3D at the movies. Did not look like the 3D today.

Is there any chance that this could get a release that includes the sequels?

If we get really lucky, Universal will allow Bob F. to re-work the original CREATURE, so he could fix all the errors.
That way it's quality will match the work he gets to do for REVENGE

Threads like this make me wonder whether or not I should even click on threads like this.

I find myself almost never totally enjoying Blu Rays anymore because I know there has to be something wrong with them.

Didn't projectionists in theaters screening 3D films adjust the convergence on the fly? I remember back in the late 80s, there was a 3D film festival I attended where the host called for a round of applause for the projectionist for doing such a good job of making sure the 3D effect worked perfectly.

Nice.

Will Invisible Man and it's sequel be coming too?

Projectionists can adjust the vertical alignment to make sure one "eye" of the 3-D film isn't higher or lower than the other, resulting in unnecessary eye strain. 3-D films in the 80's often had this issue. Thankfully, the 3-D Film Archive (Greg Kintz) corrects these issues digitally so it's never a problem on a 3-D Blu-Ray.

No but we are optimistic that if Universal green lights a CREATURE set that they will pay to have the errors in the 2012 Blu ray corrected, and give us REVENGE as well in 3D.

I will never understand why those that dont like or want 3D continue to take part in ruining it for the rest of us. Now we finally have all this great technology and computing power for crystal clear, non ghosting, hi res, 3D imagery and virtually NOT A SINGLE MODERN DVD in existence that throws things 10 feet off the screen like they did in the 70’s and 80’s. Now Im told they feel the need to go back and chop those movies down?

Far as Im concerned you have Roger Ebert (god rest his soul) to blame for it the most - the man just absolutely poo-poo’d 3D’s return from the get go. Basically this served as an intimidation factor for all the producers and studios - you cant have a major movie critic of this high profile and caliber knocking your films in EVERY newspaper across the country.. not to mention the weekly tv show. HEY ROGER THEY GIVE YOU TWO FREAKING DISCS IN EVERY PACKAGE - play the 2d version, use the other for a coaster, and shut up! I mean the man was relentless with his whining and accusations of ‘cheap gimmickry’ or how he felt the story line was actually hampered or ‘distracted from’ by the 3D. He used his pulpet to stamp it out all he could

Wouldent you agree if a person buys and slips in the 3D version you can assume their onboard for the full experience? I cant stand chicken salad but you dont see me standing in front of the grocery store trying to stop others from enjoying it. I was so thrilled to see the return of this format 10+ years ago but over all its been a bit disappointing and frustrating.... and theres really no need for it... unfortunately weve people that don’t appreciate 3D at the helm

Roger Ebert is not the reason why 3D blu-ray's aren't being sold in the U.S. anymore.
