Carrie -audio speed up?

Hi,

My blu ray of Carrie has the audio speed up for 3 seconds starting at 52:47.

Seems intentional ... But I don't know. I guess it was a "joke"

Can anyone confirm its not just my copy.

Moreover, if anyone is familiar with the movie enough to know if it was on purpose.

Intentional.

It was an intentional trick used by editor Paul Hirsch when he needed to trim a few seconds off the shot, but since it was done in one take, the only thing he could do was speed up the footage. Since it was a humorous scene anyways, it kind of fits. It's talked about in the making-of documentary on the DVD (which was not ported over to the Blu...thank goodness I got the combo pack with the DVD copy and all of the dropped extras).

I looked at the time through the shot to see if my player was malfunctioning and tried it on another player.

Sort of works in context....surely fits the scene.
