I was unimpressed until I read Roger Ebert's rave review--"Accurately recreates the style of a nightmare onscreen"--and now it's one of the creepiest movies ever made:
David Lynch only wishes he could nail the REM fever-dream style as closely on the mark.

Anyone managed to get this yet? I'm having a hell-of-a-time trying to find somewhere that has it. Its one of my favourite films so if anyone can comment on the transfer I'd appreciate it.

Okay my copy arrived. It was released by ITVDVD. ITV are a British Broadcasting Company. There is no specification on the outer case and its not clear if its region encoded.

Anyone have info on the video quality and extra features? Most importantly, is it Region Coded?

Thanks.

This was directed by Neil Jordan, back in his prime, and is a very sexual (read: Freudian) adaptation of the classic Cinderella tale. It's a title I'll buy once it comes out in Region A (not that this is region-locked -- being an older title, it almost certainly isn't) because then it won't have the stupid UK censor logos and double-width case.

Buying anything from the UK is suspect, because the censorship board there is running rampant, cutting films left and right for whatever reason. If you look for the long arm of the nanny state, look no further than the British Board of Film Classification.

Got it today from Bensonsworld. Total price was around $30 shipped to the USA.

I can confirm that the Blu-Ray is Region Free (or at least playable on USA PS3s). The only special feature is the audio commentary track from the UK special edition DVD. The features it's missing from the SE DVD are the stills gallery and theatrical trailer.

I've only scanned through it briefly, but so far the video quality looks pretty good. It looks like the same print from the UK DVD. I noticed the same dust specks on both. But it appears to be a bit darker with better colors. The red cape really seems to pop. It's not a jaw-dropping upgrade, but I'm happy.

Man you must really want that movie. I don't think I could order a movie not knowing if it will work.

Would someone be good enough to tell me the UPC for this title? I'm away from my copy currently, and that is the last piece of information I require to submit a ticket for its inclusion at DVD Spot.

Thanks!

Here's the cover art. Can't find the UPC online. I was gonna try to enter it into the DVD Spot database as well.

I ordered this from a UK website which is Region B so it was bound to work.
