Default Amazon Prime - Standard Shipping Incentive

While selecting the shipping method for an order through my Amazon Prime account today, I was offered an incentive for going with standard instead of two-day shipping. The offer itself was laughable ($1 in Amazon Video credit), but the page claimed offers would vary and may include discounts. Has anyone received any different (better) offers?

No. The discounts part must be new because I don't recall ever seeing that as part of the incentive.

I've probably placed around 5 orders since they started offering the incentives, and ever time the incentive has been a $1 video credit. Even if the item is something I don't need anytime soon that wouldn't be enough to convince me to use standard shipping.

That's my position, too, and why I was hoping there were some better offers out there. If you're going to try to incentivize me to use your video service, at least give me enough for a movie.

It's disappointing to hear that no one has received any other offers. Hopefully, Amazon will up their game.

I did it on a few things I was ordering on Black Friday for Christmas gifts. Items shipped the next Monday and were all sent 2-day.

The $1 credits do not stack at all, so they are basically useless unless you rent a lot from Amazon's video store.

They used to do $1 mp3 and stuff a few months ago. It's a pretty nice offer. Some people are greedy I guess lol There are many orders (especially over Black Friday) in which Idon't need them all that day. Now, a new release movie is a different story. But this is a nice way to get a few bucks saved up if you want to purchase tv shows/movies etc. I have like $18 saved up

Try purchasing a video off the Amazon store. It only discounts the price by $1, no matter how much of this credit you've accumulated.

If you place an order for an item over $50 and choose the standard shipping incentive you receive a $3 video credit after it ships. Anything less then $50 is a $1 credit. You also do not get the credit until the entire order has shipped including preorders.

I can confirm they do NOT stack as I've been using my credits towards the season 3 HD episodes of Walking Dead and had to pay partially for 2 episodes now. You can't tell what credit amount is applying until after you check out which sucks. I racked up quite a few video credits and you can't check your account to see if they are $1 or $3 ones, so unless you're really keeping up with purchases and video credits, be careful.

Really I find their $1 incentive to be rather stupid, why the hell should I care about receiving $1 which I probably not going to get around to using. I use Prime because I want my orders fast and I want them from UPS and I want to know exactly when I am going to get items, I don't want to wait forever for anything from crappy FexEx Dumb(Smart)Post

I have Prime, and the GF tells me we have free streaming video (Lemmy don't stream). She watches stuff all the time on her Kindle. Why anyone would want a $1 credit towards something you already get for free is beyond me.

Maybe it's a Kindle thing....I dunno.

The streaming service is free, and there are many free movies available, but for most titles and new releases you have to pay for them. So the credit can be used towards those.

Default [Buyer Beware] Amazon Instant Video Promo Code - Slow Shipping Choice

Just as a notice for those that don't realize:

You get $1 promo code when choosing slow shipping when you have Amazon Prime. However there is a catch. These promo codes do no stack. So you can spend at most $1 at a time (i.e. just that specific promo code). This is not so obvious since all the codes just pile up in the "Instant Video Credit" sum value and are not individually represented, giving the illusion a purchase under the sum total's amount will be entirely covered.

Here is the CS response I received after walking into this trap and becoming quite miffed over it:

Each of those credits were added individually, and it seems in the condition of the promotion they can't be combined sorry.

Well, that stinks.

I was actually considering using my promo credits this year to get some free AIV videos even though I primarily use iTunes.

Last year I accrued a whole bunch of these credits and just let them expire, I never redeemed any of them.

Thanks for letting us know.

I always pick standard, since 2-day shipping is UPS, whom is a pain in the ass. Waiting a week to get stuff right in my mailbox is A-OK with me.

It was an awful promotion that Amazon used to save on shipping costs, nothing more. The credits are practically useless since they don't stack.
