Canada 2013 iNetVideo.ca Deals Thread

As was mentioned in the 2012 thead, a great deal on right now is Tsotsi:

http://www.inetvideo.ca/p-135486-tso....aspx?lang=en&

There's another one listed for $18, so snap this up if you want it. Don't know about the extras, and there's no listing on blu-ray about it. Credit goes to David Crossman who found and posted about it

Here's the metacritic page:

http://www.metacritic.com/movie/tsotsi

For me, I'm dying for more criterion movies! I'm glad I got The Great Dictator and Modern Times, but sad I missed out on a lot more. If the last metro wasn't so damn expensive, I'd have snagged it!

Why not just leave off 2013 from the thread title and then a new thread won't need to be created every year?

My recent inetvideo deal didn't turn out so well. Bought 4 Criterion blu rays but when I received them, 2 of the cases had really big cracks in them and now one of them is defective (freezes). Another one when I took off the packaging the case was sticky and dirty. Think I got 4 used instead of new ones. Submitted a help ticket to them so we'll see what they say. Anyone else had a similar experience with inetvideo?

1) if they didn't say NEW, they could have been used.
2) The freezing could be your player's firmware

I had an order where a disc was missing and artwork was damaged, and I got my money back.

Regarding new items, INetVideo.ca has always been A1. However, I would never buy collectible items (steelbooks) from them and I would be weary on used items. I received a very dented steelbook once as the packaging is really shoddy as far as protecting the case.

You know what, thank you for this. I have 5 movies that had varying amounts of damage to them. 2 that had the weird dirty/sticky packaging, one with a major cut in the back of the package, one with major damage to the slipcover and previously a disc that had a significant scratch to it.

I got my scratched disc replaced, but you've encouraged me to email them about it. I've given the company too much money to just shrug it off.

I'll post back.

Personally I don't buy unless it says DVD NEW, none of their criterion movies have ever shown as see.

As for the freezing, if this is a new issue for him, I doubt it's due to the movie. I think the only exception is for those rare films that put multiple films on the same disc. The Samurai Trilogy for example, my LG player would freeze up at the end of the 2nd film on the first disc, but only there. It also happened in strange places on some of my 3D discs. I think that some players have difficulty accessing the discs when the information is too close to the edge.

I don't think I'd buy Steelbooks from them, no. Criterion films have been pretty decent.. Well, no. Actually they haven't been. But assuming they're as good as I expect them to be, a few issues isn't enough to keep from buying. If they send out replacements if they have them or if they refund for problems they can't solve, or at least provide a discount of some sort, they still end up being the cheapest alternative.

Now when the heck are they going to refresh their criterion stock?

Got a photo? Are the booklets missing? That's the problem with ordering stuff, you have to cross your fingers you get what you paid for. Which is why it has to be a real deal for me to order, not just the same as retailers. Still it can happen with b&m, at least one BD I picked up in store had a cracked case and a few I realized later they were re-wrapped.

I have yet to see a criterion BD listed on inet as anything other then DVD NEW.

Well here we are 2 days later and I have not heard anything from inetvideo. No email confirmation, nothing. I tried calling but after staying on hold for a long time, a message told me to leave my name and number. BAD BAD BAD customer service.

It took me 4-5 days for a reply when I sent them an Email.

Be patient, be kind and you'll get a response. I guarantee that. Inet may have some issues, they may take a bit longer to reply but they do reply and they make sure they take care of their customers.

Yeah, their turnaround is a bit slower than some, but they're a smaller company. You get a real person responding, too. Not some outsourced auto response.

but 4-5 days?? Small company should almost garner an immediate response of less than 24 hours at max, IMO

I have never had a problem with iNetvideo, fast shipping and always right the first time, so I have never had to contact CS for anything. I definitely would recommend.

I don't know, I can't explain it. But most places are at least, at least, 2 business days for a response. Here, maybe it's 4 or 5, but it's by someone who won't dismiss the request and put you at another few days before you hear back.

I prefer fewer emails over multiple ones when they continually don't get it.

Anyway, they'll get back, they always do, they've proven it to me by their commitment to my replacement and while they haven't told me what they'll do for my issues, they're addressing them and asking me to send a list of products with issues. Hell, I didn't even have to send back my slightly damaged film, I just passed it to a friend wouldn't be fussed if it skips. Most places don't give you that option, or make it you return it at your cost and so on.

I'll post back when I hear from them, I've sent the info and the pics.

Customer service is extremely important so when I submit a case and get no response for a couple days, not even an automated email saying that my concern has been received, that is bad. I also called and waited until finally the system just said leave a message. I also tried their live chat but no one ever came online. It's great that they have multiple ways of reaching them but if none of them work, there's a problem.

Anyway, I did finally hear back from inetvideo and they are refunding my money for the defective bluray since they don't have any in stock. Unfortunately they didn't do anything about the broken blu ray cases.

Packing for Criterion blu rays in a loose envelope wasn't a good idea.

Will still give them my business for now.

This might not help tons, but criterion sometimes sells replacement cases. It's worth contacting them, I have a few my wife bought from amazon that are damaged, amazon would replace them but as we got them shipped to the states, that's where they have to ship them, and that's not convenient for me.

What movies were damaged? I have to get in touch with criterion and can ask them.

And yes, I agree the support doesn't provide enough feedback, but as you can see they do come through in the end. Most companies would force us to send everything back, I'd pick a free with a broken case than nothing.

So I too got a reply, they asked if I could send them back, they'd be able to replace them. Apparently they have all the films in stock. I'm not sure if I want to go through that, my only issue with CS is that I usually have a 2 second reply and it takes a few days for a reply.

Almost, one was Apocalypse Now, the full dossier and Delicatessen was Studio Canal.

The rest (Black Narcissus, Days of Heaven, Modern Times) were criterion.

The more I think about it, the more concerned the whole process makes me. I would rather deal with damage than somehow losing movies that are important to me.
