Hey all, last week i decided to splurge and bump up to 1080p so i went to best buy and bought a 42" sharp aquos lcd. The picture looks great on all of my blu-rays, but just wondering what other owners have their settings at for the best picture possible? I searched around for this topic and couldnt find anything but if im wrong just move my thread thanks!

I have the LC32D62U Which is simialr spec'd. The thing with sharp is they push red naturally I find that a slight kick in the green tint helps. Turn the backlight up and brightness down, and depending on your sourse maybe lower your sharpness setting to 50 vs. the 75 factory. These are simple but impactfull without getting crazy.
GTsmokeya Enjoy, they are great tv's. |

If you go over to the AVS forum and search for you model TV, there should be a thread of user's settings for the best possible picture. I have the 46" version of your TV and I found a thread for my TV. Sorry I don't have the link right now, I'm at work. Just do a search and it should be easy to find.

Some info is in here, on what I and another used. Granted, we have different sizes, but you should get the idea.
I may revisit my idea of making a "Calibration 101" thread. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=17147 |

This is from a gut reviewing my TV (see sig and yes NOT the Hitachi
![]() Please bear in mind that using our settings on your own LC42XD1E by no means guarantee an accurate picture, simply because your house has different ambient lighting, you may be using other types of input connections, there may be intra-model variations, or you're used to non-D65 images. With that disclaimer out of the way, here are our post-calibration user menu settings when running a HTPC with DVI-HDMI connection in a dim environment: Backlight: -4 daytime, -6 evening Contrast: 35 Brightness: -1 Colour: -7 Tint: 9 Colour Temp: Low Sharpness: -10 Black: Off If you find the final picture too yellow/ red, that's because most of us have been "brainwashed" – we've been looking at 9300k bright and bluish pictures all our lives (computer monitors, most new HDTVs, etc.). But 6500k is the colour temperature at which most films are shot and broadcasted... so if you want to watch a movie the way the director intended it to be watched, persevere with the seemingly yellow/ red tinge for at least 1 week. Your eyes and brain will get used to it eventually, after which you'll wonder how you tolerated the bright and artificial 9300k pictures beforehand. Video games, on the other hand, are generally not developed according to the 6500k standard. In this case, rather than using the above settings, it may be more desirable to adopt a higher colour temperature, and adjust the brightness and contrast as you see fit. |

Wow, I was looking for a thread like this about a week ago. I recently purchased a Sharp Aquos LC-52D92U and absolutly LOVE IT. This has been some great info thanks guys!
Also has anyone noticed the banding issue that Sharp LCDs are infamous for? I didn't for about 2 weeks and then during a pan in Blue Dragon for 360 I noticed it. That has been the only incident. Also does anyone know if the TV can be replaced on these grounds? |

The factory setting is crap..... Heres what I have set now after days of adjusting....
DYNAMIC Backlight : +16 Contrast : +40 Brightness : -2 Colour : +4 Tint : 0 Sharpness : +6 I also set the 3D y/c to fast to take advantage of the fast pixel response... TV IS AMAZING NOW ! ![]() |

Sharpness : +6?? looks like you're adding a whole lot that shouldn't be there ![]() Backlight at +16 means you will have no real blacks, more like pure grey. Your sharpness setting is so high you are probably seeing things that are not there in the first place. You should try these... Backlight: -6 Contrast: 35 Brightness: -2 Tint: -2 Color: -2 Temperature: low Noise reduction: off Black: off all other nonsense off |

This is what I have now and I feel is the best for the "64" series Aquos I have a/v mode on the remote set to " user " not dynamic or anything else ! Backlight: +16 Contrast: +33 Brightness: -6 Colour: -4 Tint: 0 Sharpness: +2 Colour Temp: High Active Contast: On Fine Motion: On 3D y/c: Fast Film Mode: On Digital Noise Reduction: Off Even though I have messed around back and forth and back and forth... Using the THX Optimiser doesn't allow for leeway, either its set to the specs they want to see or it isn't.... With these settings this follows their guidelines on my 64 Series Aquos and I can say it has never looked better ! ![]() Last edited by Robmx; 11-10-2007 at 04:42 PM. |
